i too have the janome MC 9700 and like you I was tempted by the janome 11000 but then all i wanted was a larger hoop than the 5x7 or the giggahoop that i had to split designs for. while looking i spotted a phaff creative that had a larger hoop and was much cheaper.
yes i sucumbed and purchased the Phaff creative 2 and have never for one momment regreted my desision. ok there is a seperate section that you have to slide on when you want to do embroidery but thats fine. i can do utility work and even move the machine around easier as its muchlighter. BIG PLUS. I have had less problems with the phaff than i have ever had with the janome. needle stikes are a thing of the past. haveing to keep actually lifting hte foor when i am in utility to turn corners is also a thing of the past as all i do now is tap the foot controle and he foot will lift just enough to turne the fabric. makeing quilts is so much more fun
in fact i have just had the janome serviced and will be putting it up for sale and oputting he money into getting a good serger. Janome have priced themselves out of the market and have just not quantified the hike. so for me its a thumbs down on owning a future janome anything in fact i was talking to the dealer about the price hike and he informed me that the janome overlocker is now over £400.00 pound for him to sell but he can still buy in at the same price the machine was five years ago. He cannot reduce the price to his customers but has to sell at the price staited by janome themselves. This means its price fixing on a grand scale and the only ones to loose out is the customer. if he tries to reduce the price he will loose the fanchise.
Message to Janome.. come on and join the lifestyle of today. gone are the days when a customer accepted the first price given.. WE HAVE LEARNT. TO BARTER.. annie in the uk

Thanks for that - it is certainly food for thought. I had a Pfaff computerised sewing machine about 15 years ago and it was just out of warranty when a computer chip gave up. As it would have cost almost as much to repair as it was in the first place, I didn't bother! This put me off the make but I'll definitely look more closely now.

Right then - I've just fetched my machine back and left the super dupa one in the shop! (It was ready early.)
I have decided to wait for news of the new model which will be launched in September. (That might mean that the MC11000 comes down in price!)
There don't seem to be any deals going at the moment except the option to have an ex-demo model for about two thirds of the full price.

the secret of the ex demo models is that is the only way the dealer can reduce the price. it may only hve ever been removed from the box and turned on and used for five minutes and its classed as an ex demo model..

I would say, "Go for it!!" I'd wait until after September, though. I hear they will release the 12K then, and people may trade in the 11K for the 12K, and you may be able to get a better deal. Denise

Food for thought: Well you be able to use all the extra feet you have and does it take the same size bobbins you already have? I am a Bernina girl so I don't know how to compare what you gain in up grading. Sometimes I think we over buy the Embroidery machine, when you should opt for the latest software. When I bought a new Bernina a couple of machines back, I realized the feet all changed and I decided to keep the old model, because I had every foot that Bernina made at that time. I gave that one to my daughter and I am glad I kept it. It still sew like a dream. Kay

I'm not a Brotherfan I had one and I didn't like him after a while. I would only go back to brother for the 10 needle one.
I have a MB4 and a 11000 (yes with the big hoop) and they are great and easy. I stick with Janome as long I don't buy a bigger one but yhen it is only for the needles and the big hoops. I did try the 6 needle one and it is more complicated then my MB4. I hope I helped you. The 11000 is very easy in use and doesn'd have a seperated embroidery table.
Good luck with your mission Yes or No, Yvonne

Sorry, I, too, am a Brother (which is a twin to the BabyLock) gal. I have the Quattro and love it. Upgraded in January from my PE780D (after only one year). I did not need it for sure - but I wanted it and I decided I like embroidery so much that I would go ahead and spend the money and get it. I got a great deal - they threw in the roller case and a 3 year maintenance agreement (that covers the cleanings too). You have to look at the features it has vs. your current machine to see if they are something that would make a difference to you (they did me - bigger hoops, easier hoop attachment, snowman positioning (camera driven), great threading, and especially automatic jump stitch cutting - none of these features were on my old machine). Ponder on it and let us know what you decide.

Sue, I would love to upgrade to the 11000. I have a friend who has one and she loves her. Money is my deciding factor. I would love the bigger hoop and being able to transfer designs directly to the machine. I have had to replace my card reader several times and as you know without the card reader your 9700 or in my case my 300E and 9700 are unable to embroider. Let us know your decision. :) Becky

Janome MC11000SE - can't possilby live without it!!
A fantastic machine. I love that it needs no separate embroidery carriage (it has an integral arm that swings out and in one move you are ready to embroider AND no space is need for storage of the carriage either). Would I replace it with another machine? Not even considered it. That's how much I like my MC11000SE. As to persuading you -if your pocket will take it go with whatever your heart balanced by the sensible part of your brain (yes do listen to that as well) tells you. Good luck.

I purchased the Janome MC 11000SE 6 months ago, after owning the Janome MC6500 the for almost 5years and the Janome 350E for 18 months. Prior to these, I had the Pfaff 7570 for 10 years. The 11000SE is the most superb machine to use- free motion quilting stitches and satin stitching are both perfect. It is the easiest machine to convert from sewing to embroidery mode and I just love the larger hoops. I am aware a new model is planned to replace the 11000SE later this year but I am not proposing to replace my `baby`. I use Janome Digitiser Junior and Windows Vista -no problems at all.
Have no hesitation buying the MC11000SE, just try to negotiate a good deal.

Oh, my. The 11000SE is a Beastly machine!
I took my 350e in for a tune-up and bought the 11000SE before leaving the store. So, you are doing better than I did... by waiting until you pick up your machine.
The shop owner was willing to deal with the price... and then, she began adding items... such as extra bobbins, wheeled carry case, coupon off anything else in her shop. I would imagine you could probably request the first tune-up be added as well. Free lessons come with... I have the Janome 101 next week and the Janome 102 the following week. The Janome 103 is by appt and is a 3 hour one on one with the owner.
The machine is a beast. Each time I sit down with it, I learn something else new and interesting.
So far, I have yet to convince it to wash my kitchen floor... but, it seems to do just about everything else!

Only you can decide what is right for you....
I hope you are able to treat yourself, as you seem to do a great deal for others.
Good luck with your decision.
Julie

HI Julie, sorry but my 11,000 won't make a coffee for me let alone wash the kitchen floor. But it is a great machine.

So Sue if you can afford it why not get it.

well this was the deciding factor for me: I have the Janome 10001 & I was also VERY tempted but then I also have the digitiser pro. Which you may or may not know was very EXPENSIVE! It is NOT compatible with the 11000! That was all it took for me!

I would check with the dealer and see what they say about it. I only have the digitiser jr. that I got with my machine and have no problems.

Well if you really want it you must have it, I am a brother girl myself and if I was going to buy a embroidery quilting machine I would by the quattro

But I know janome fans are janome fans so go girl, get your fancy machine.

I have an open mind!

lynda53 by lynda53 15 Jun 2011

I was a Janome fan for a long time but bought the Quattro on a whim &,although I took awhile to bond with it because it wasnt a Janome,I now love my baby & all it can do with the camera features.

fannyfurkin by fannyfurkin 15 Jun 2011

I guess that is what I was thinking, but did not want to confuse the issue, the Quattro camera technology is astounding, the only reason I don't have a quattro is because I have the pr1000 which has the camera technology and 10 needles. I am a brother girl, the next time I buy a single needle machine it will be the Quattro.

I did the very same Sue, I have a 350E and was in the Janome shop , when I saw it was on sale half price, so I lay byed it ,I am very happy with her, because I can take it to class and have the option of sewing or embroidery.

Did you have a play on it? I have a Janome 10001 and a couple of years ago I was really tempted by the 11000 but when I tried it out at the dealer I decided that I liked my 10001 better. I think the 11000 could be great if you quilt as it has that extra space, and the big hoop is awesome. A lot of it is down to personal preference and budget!
I guess you have to make the decision you will be happy with :) Good luck either way.

I have the MC11000SE - I love it! I have never done machine emb. until I saw this machine and debated and then made a good deal and got it. Go for it - you won't be sorry!
Also, try it while you're there. It's so easy to use.

Justify it - not sure!

Cuties are always able to justify what they want when it comes to sewing/embroidery! hehe
