If you're going to save any graphic, always get a vector image (such as wmf) because the file is created as an algorithm (math calculation) so size can be adjusted without distortion within programs like Illustrator or Microsoft Office applications. Bitmaps, (such as bmp, gif or jpg) files rely on print resolution for clarity… hence, the best images to digitize are vectors since you may make them any size you want. Does this make sense?
WOW, you must know your stuff! My dealer was just telling me that vector was the best to use also. But she didn't tell me the rest (probablay because she knew I wouldn't understantd!!!!)
