I haven't been doing this long so I don't have a lot of projects, but I started out right away taking pictures as I wanted to be able to see for myself what I have done and also so I can email a picture of things to my daughter in Barbados (she saw the quilts and told friends and they want one).
I didn't take pictures of some of the things I used to sew - and now wish I had and that's why I thought of doing it for the embroidery. Then when I did something special for someone else, they gave me a picture of them wearing the item.
A lady I used to live next door to years ago used to supplement her pension by crocheting and making wedding cakes. She took pictures of everything she made - except for the first things she had done as she hadn't thought of it and was sorry afterwards that she hadn't. She also liked to look at the pictures just for herself and not just to show her customers.
The intention to photograph it is there but somehow I almost always forget. But I do keep a list of everything I make ... item, name etc: It's very interesting reading, especially the names I have been asked to do over the years!
Wish I had, but no I haven't. I have been trying to do this more often now. I did when I was selling items, but I haven't as much lately has I should just for my records and memories. Just to busy with other things, lol! Don't want to admit I might be starting to get old at 48 :) I try to think I'm still young, lol! Just woke up one morning and someone switched the young body I once had for this one that looks and acts older. :(
Hehehehe
Hi Devon, I take pictures of most of the projects that I do.(Some times I do forget!!)
I save it under a file as "jobs done" and then into different folders. In this way I can see what I have done and what I have given to whom as gifts.
Blankets will have all the blankets I've done and for who, next bags and so on.
I see I have 157 folders with 3032 files in total so far.
Hugs Yvonne
I try to take pictures, but like a lot of us I forget sometimes. Right now I am pretty good with it, since my sister always wants to see what I have done. Maybe she is starting a wishlist.
I also take pictures of all the things I have embroidered. Now taking pictures of garments that I knit and sew. I find it very useful for things I give away as presents so I do not duplicate the design.
I usually do after I finish a project. But sometimes I send it off before I remember I forgot. :o)
o.k. you have just opened pandoras box for me i will start photographing all my projects if i can round them all up and that is going to be a task they are all over australia i have a lot of years to catch up on i dont know why i did not do this as i am a bit of an organisation nut...thanks for the challenge...soozie
That smacks awfully of organisation..... :{ :{ :{
I do take photos... most of the time... then there's the 'Where did I put it??' thing....
I've tried to make lists but I can never decide which book to write them in e.g. 'Should I embroider a proper Journal cover?' or 'Will this thick book or this thin one be better?' or 'Small notebook or impressive large one?'....... so many factors to consider .... and then it's suddenly no time to make the list anyway.
I do so admire people who can organise themselves and then stick to that organisation.
AlmaG.
I forget to take many photos. I do need to put together a portfolio of my designs, not only as a record but to show my work if asked. I do not want people to come to my home. I do not even put my address on a business card, only name and phone #. There are so many bad guys out there that I am overly cautious. Of cource my personal friends are a different matter. Kay
I am like quite a few cuties here. I take a photo, of course sometimes I forget. Must be getting OLD. LOL Marg
I always say I'm going to take pics of the things I make but very rarely do. My Granddaughter bought me a nice digital camera for my birthday but I'm too dumb to figure out how to transfer the pics to the computer!
I try to take pictures of my projects and keep on the computer so I can refer back to them. However, sometimes I forget. I just recently created a monogram for someone and of all times forgot!!
I usually take a pic of all things I make for others, unless I forget!!! Hahaha! HUgs, Judy
I try to keep pictures of everything I make now - on the computer, not printed. I have missed a few things that I really wished I had done so I could remember to do it again. Before the machine I made cards - lots and lots of cards - and I scanned the inside and outside and kept them on the computer too. I wish I had kept photos of all the things I have done over the years - it would be nice to reminisce - better now tho.
I always take photos, print designs with colors and notes then file outside of the computer just in case I need them...Hugs Sally
I keep all mine on an external drive. I used to print out pictures of all my quilts. My daughter made up a scrapbook album and I was keeping them in there. With changes in technology, I don't print them now. I just leave them on the drive and eventually save them to a CD.
I try to take pictures of all my quilts and some of my embroidery not all orniments unless I have a bunch of diffferent ones at a time then I do.I have takon pictures for years especial my quilts am proud of them no two are alike never make 2 alike.

I take some pic's not all. sometimes I just want to give it to the person it was made for that I don't have time to take a pic. I am getting better at taking pic's though. Figure I should in my ods age I forget who I gave what to. LOL
DeVon, you didn't answer this - what do you do?
As for me - I love pictures - I take picture and save them on my PC under my EMBROIDERY PROJECT folder. I tried making a photo book for my Mother once - but that was alot of work - I don't print them out any more. I have put some of my projects on my Facebook and I also have a website for my LACE.
I agree never do I print pic's, I take a lot of photo's that's probably why I don't make sure iA take a pic of evything. Kids will give me frames and they better put a pic in it or it will never get one, the kids gave us a frame one yr andI hung it on a wall for over 4yrs it stayed with the pics that came from the store LOL
I have a laptop that I put all my photos on. My DH said that I have to many photos. So on my desk top I keep all the other photos and keep my laptop for just embroidery things.
I take pictures cause I need them for my business as an inspiration for customers and also if a parcel get lost. Same with my blueprints: I store every design I made for the knuddies and for the lamps (the jef and a embird-jpg). It is my treasure-box so I can react very fast to customer requests. In the knuddies are about 180designs and in the lamp-folder about 200 :o)
Greetings, Bettina
I have taken pictures of everything I have made since I bought my embroidery machine. I really wish I had started sooner as I was making things for 50 years before that!
I don't take pictures of everything not do I keep a list. I do this for fun not for profit so I do not have to worry about clients. I don't even keep the design when I resize it.
I take pictures of the things I make & who they were made for. I keep folders on my computer with my completed projects in them. Example Quilts made for family & friends & then under the picture I have who it was made for. I also list my stuff on facebook for my family & friends to see.
I put this in a comment on here last week that I take pictures of designs, projects and things that I do and have done over the years.....
I have 4 photo albums full before the computer came along for me and I take pictures and I am like "jofrog2000" when I feel like I need a boost, I go look at the things I have accomplished and it helps and gives me new ideas also.....
have you any idea how long my list would be ?????I told my sister she had on a lovely coat last week and she laughed her head off???When i asked whats so funny she told me i made the coat 5 years ago lol carolyn
I take pictures of all my projects. I keep my templates and color sheets where I have put in my color changes. I add the date and who it was given to. I keep it all in a projects folder. Carol
I take pictures. Long ago I used to keep a list. When I feel like I haven't accomplished anything in my life I go and see and feel better. Plus I get to show them off!
It's a repeat of the "Ahhh' moment when you finish your project and stand back to look at it.
I take pictures and even make notes about who, what, where, when, etc. I keep a file on my computer. That way when I give a gift I can still go back to the picture to remember it or to use it as a reference if I want to repeat it.
