Since I make and sell quilts, my customers always get a deal. The economy just will not bear the $600 - $700 price tag often seen. I do however, make a profit, not big but enough to keep me in fabric. I'm gonna make em anyway so to me it's a win win......
I make mine out of recycled items, but I usually don't sell them so I don't make a profit either has I usually have to buy the batting. Oh well
I'm glad that you asked this question. I don't sell, but it is a good question.
Someone told me that they did not figure their time into the price, because they could not afford her. But she loved creating things.
I made a pencil case for my Grandaughter's teacher. I asked $12 but she was so pleased with it that she made me accept $20. So then I was the one who was very pleased!
Yes, I made a profit. Not what I should, but if I charge like everyone says to, I wouldn't sell anything. I charge what I think is fair in my own area.
If your going to sell at the markets, I find that having a large variety of things is important. So many people have commented to me what a nice variety of things I have. I even keep my knitted hats and mittens on my tables year around.
I do at least one scheduled show a month, and several flea markets just as a pop in when I feel like it. Now in Oct, Nov, and Dec, I'm already booked for just about every weekend until Christmas.

Last thing was a lamp (or better some of them) and I made my profit. Not too much cause it depends how long I need for the blueprintto make my customer happy :o). Sometimes it takes more time (> like that customer with the little firefighter: Need more time just for the search than for a complete regular design).
For wintertime I will do heatpads again cause this is also something you can sell with a good profit (even when you personlize them with embroidery).
Greetings, Bettina
I'm thinking of doing some selling at a weekend type market. I just don't know if customers are in a buying mood. Can only try. Thanks Bettina
A friend of mine is selling often on markets and on the same plattform in the net (DaWanda.de).
She has some small thing for less than 5,-€ as "take-away"-sellers: Key fobs, tissue holders for the handbag (looks better than the plastic-pack), lanyard keychains, little patches for children-clothes (always needful especially for boy-mums :-), pooch-bags for the doglovers, teabag-holder, bookmarks. If you keep them simple they are done very quick (did I say that I love RW ;o) and you can use fabric-leftovers (>use what you have).
Greetings, Bettina
PS: Maybe we should do a post were we collect all the ideas for the coming christmas-markets? To have the best of it with a pic and an link where you bought the design :o)
