Funny you should mention this, I recently had x-rays and the disposable hospital gown i was given to wear reminded me of that mesh-looking kind of stabiliser, so I shoved it in my handbag instead of their rubbish bin! it's huge and cost me nothing other than the medicare gap, i'm sure i'll find a use for dark blue stabiliser one day??? Great minds think alike... LOL! roses 4U, M

The gowns and shorts they use for medical exams are a very similar material to what they use for car and motorcycle covers actually. They make great sewing machine/serger (and other items you want to keep the dust off of) covers! There is one type of disposable gown material I have found that has an open enough weave to make a great bird cage cover... Just be sure that air will pass through the material first (and of course leave a gap in the cover for air flow)!

Thank you Kimmy. I believe I've heard of some sort of bag stabilizer thingy b4. But now, Next time I get out I shall surely have to take a look there. I have seen something like this description in one of our dollar stores too. *'s4U

They usually have a drawstring top, too. Anyhow, they embroider rather nicely....however, last Christmas when embroidering a few, I messed up on one, but kept the laundry bag...just because! lol Well, I got looking at the scrap bag and thought that it sure looked like a BIG piece of cut-away to me! So...tonight, I cut a piece and used it underneath a project for some stabilizer. WA-LA! it worked! Now...you have to test these out, because my hot iron DID melt it when it came into direct contact...but when I ironed on the front of the embroider, of course, it did not melt the back. But...if you take a look at these bags (I know my dollar store carry these, too)...they are HUGE! It's a honking piece of cut-away...for $1.00! Just thought I would pass along my findings...but remember, I haven't experimented beyond what I've done tonight. Kim
