wonder what temperatures are right now? I know it is winter now
but probably not so cold as German winters. It would make thingseasier to know whether there are shops in the area which are
not too expensive to buy clothes locally. Thank you - Maria

From what I remember, good quality clothing can be expensive in New Zealand.

Hi, I live in Taranaki, although currently in Hawera, about an hour away from New Plymouth. Definitely doesn't get as cold as German winters! New Plymouth doesn't get snow, even though the mountain gets snow in winter.
Shopping is OK, but not what you would find in a large city. New Plymouth is officially a city as St Mary's Anglican Church was consecrated as a Cathedral last year, not by numbers of people. It is quite a nice place however.
