nurselilly is your problem solved

Nurselilly, did you get this problem solved? You are kind of jumping in off the deep end in digitizing (not a bad thing, that's what I did). First, make sure your jpg or bmp is clean. Convert it to as few colors as you can to make it out well, even though that's going to look like a paint-by-number picture. I don't know PEDesign, but I do know that my Janome Digitizer Pro will only deal with bmp's. If I try to import a jpg, I will get that unidentifiable file message. When you make it into a stitch file, that is called auto-digitizing. Just a warning, you may or may not be happy with the result. I usually am not, so then I go into the program and change stuff around, like stitch type, density, stitch angle, etc. I use Janome Digitizer Pro, which will then save the file as JAN. My machine uses JEF, and I have a flash card, like you use in a digital camera, to take files from the computer to the machine. When I go to write the design to the flash card, I write it as a JEF. That's actually the default in my program, since the program and machine are made to work together. I'm assuming that PEDesign is made to work with your machine. So however you get your designs to the machine, you should have some way to do that in your machine's language. I hope I have clarified this for you in some way, Nurselilly. You bit off a big chunk, there, you know, lol. I had visions of doing all this great stuff with my program in ten minutes or less when I first got it, then found out the hard way it wasn't so easy to do, lol. After you mess with this for a while, you'll have a good appreciation for why we are glad to *pay* for a well-digitized design, and what it takes to do it!!! Hee hee hee. Best of luck to you, yell if you need any more help. Hope I helped some, anyway. Marji

nurselilly, THIS JUST MIGHT HELP YOU!!! sorry you are still having problems. I have a thought, might be wrong, but here it is anyway, see what you think. When you converted the jpg to a stitch file, I’m assuming you did it using *pe design 6*, and you said you saved it as a pem file. I’m wondering if the pem file is just a file for you to use in pe design, and not a format of an actual embroidery design. Is it possible to load the pem file into pe design, and then see if you can save it as a pes file from there. If you can’t do that you might need to re-digitise the jpg in pe design, then see if you can then save as a pes file rather than a pem file - hope you can do the first! Like I said, I could be wrong about this sweetie, but I know that software like this often has it’s own file extension for *working* files within the software, but they aren’t embroidery format files. You might just find that this is your problem, hope so for your sake – and sanity, haha. Hugs and flowers for your persistence in trying to master digitising sweetie. If this isn’t clear – please ask again, because I really want you to get this sorted.

I am sorry you are still having problems. I have not yet tried digitizing and only have a husqvarna #1+. But maybe a flower will help your frustration a bit this morning. ><>

How are you converting the jpeg to a stitch file? Autodigitizing, manual? How are you trying to open the file that gives you the error message - PE Design, the embroidery machine? Again forgive me if I am misunderstanding, just asking for more details to try to help.

What format is your picture in? I am not sure if you have a picture of a container or a file with filetype of .bin. Files of type .bin are usually executable programs, not pictures. Forgive me if I am completely misunderstanding. Someone else who knows PE Design will have to tell you what formats it will accept as input for digitizing into a stitch file.

ooppss sorry i was thinking like a pes file or something you was trying to open ok here is where we get into this deep now i hope this helps you i am turning my voice activator on because this is a lot to type The File Allocation Table of contents of a computer disk contains the information that determines what sectors are used for what file. The File Allocation Table (also know as FAT), is located in the first 63 sectors of your hard drive. You visually cannot see this. The first 63 sectors is known as the data sector.

The FAT file system revolves around the File Allocation Table for which it is named. Each logical volume has its own FAT, which serves two important functions: it contains the allocation information for each file on the volume in the form of linked lists of allocation units and it indicates which allocation units are free for assignment to a file that is being created or extended.

The FAT contains the information of each file or directory name, what sector the file starts in, and how large the file is. If this table (Table 1) becomes corrupted, or what is known as disk errors, there is a second (backup) table (Table 2) available for programs like Scandisk to use to fix the FAT (Table 1).

When the system crashes, no data is lost. However, a FAT system may have removed disk area from the chain of free space, but may not yet have assigned it to any permanent new data set. The CHKDSK or SCANDISK utility examines the FAT table to determine the status of every record on disk. The records which are not part of any data set may be returned to the free space chain. If Scandisk is not run to make these repairs and the chain is broken, sectors and cluster can become lost (unidentified). The file then is a corrupted file or becomes marked as free space. If enough chains are broken or lost, then you will probably have to format the drive.
ok that is all i know about that lol yes i am a computer wiz but when it comes to this darn embroidery software of mine it has me bumped lol
