Has any cutie heard of SophieSew digitizing and editing? It's a free download. DH wants to learn to digitize so it's for him not me. Pros? Cons? Thanks much. Carol

When I first got SewIconz and was having a problem with it, I wrote to the yahoo group and got a personal call from Steve, the writer of the programs and hands-on person. One of the first things he asked me was if I had SE on my computer. Said their program messes things up and he would NOT use it. As I had no intention of having a program that you have to be on line to use I had not tried it.

Embird ..........I love Embird, so much that I think they don't charge enough for the program and the addon iconzier is great price as well.

Good Luck....

My son downloaded SophieSew and had a fantastic design digitized in nothing flat. He made an apron for a gal friend of his. His design was amazing. I tried SophieSew and was a tad frustrated. I think that it has great potential, and should sit on the back burner and not be forgotten, but it doesn't have everything yet. If you have a computer background, then it will probably be intuitive and work just fine. Good luck with what ever you choose.

That's great that your son has an interest in doing digitizing! We both downloaded the trial of Embird and we'll see what happens. Thanks for the info. Carol

Artistic Thread Works is offering free digitizing classes (with Generations) but you don't have to buy software to listen in. I'm interested in learning but not making a lot of progress on my own, so thought I would listen it to tomorrow's session to see if it is worth my time.

I founs SophieSew very difficult to do anything with it. The info is very limited....
Embird is the way to go, the price is the best for the best.

It's free as it is a work in progress, but I haven't seen any progress during the last 3 years or so. You can get some idea of how to digitise, but make a mistake and the program freezes. Better try something like Embird if he is serious about it. I love that program - and I'm not the only one.

Thanks. I just read your reply to him and told him, get Embird! He wants to find something free but I've tried to tell him he's not going to get a good program free, to download Embird for the 30 day free trial and see if he likes it. Men!
