Sira, I have the 2 sets you mention and haven't had a problem. I use JEF format not that that should matter. I sewed the kitty come down on a denim bag. Maybe it's the stabilizer. Wait and see what SICK says. Good luck and hang in there. *4U
Thanks Celticlady. It worked fine in your denim? What thread did you use? I used Marathon, because it`s the only for machine embroidery I can buy from Bernina dealer(I have this machine).
Worked great on my denim. I use Isacord, Janome, Wonderfil, and a German one. Actually I'm not too picky on the thread. I also used a tearaway stabilizer on the designs. Hope this helps.
Hello Cute friends. I´m back - finally- to tell you more about my "failured" works. Thanks so much for You all my Cute friends- You are amazing, so many replies to my "growl". So... I embroidered on Friday and Saturday two designs: KittyComeDown and HangingPuppy. This was my first try with these designs. Embroidered them on denim- ironed a stabilizer (with glue on it) hooped a cutaway stabilizer and pin the denim to stabilizer. First I embroidered that Kitty design- it was too dense. It sewed so many straight outline stitches(last color) before it-finally- stitched that siksak outline. My machine needle almost stuck in denim many times while embroidering. When it was ready it looked awful-after five hours struggling, because I had to stop the machine from time to time. Especially this siksak outline stitching, I had to help the hoop moving back and forth! Second try: Puppy- it worked better- I used softer thicker stabilizer and hand basted in to the stabilizer. It was also too dense: 1 broken needle and 3 times the thread snaped. In both designs there were gaps in stitching so that the denim appears. Luckily this was testing- I thought to sew a tote bag for myself from these test pieces-oohh well. I planned to use that Kitty design in a bag, which would be a present for my godchild. I know she loves cats- owns two of them. I was planning to give it for her when we are visiting the family next week. These designs are sooo cute that I hope they could "fix" the designs, because I`m running out of time here.
I contacted Designs by Sick (before I came here) and explained this same - hope they can help me on this. I haven`t had trouble before with their designs and I have purchased several sets from them. Keep fingers crossed! Thanks again all for your support and help! *4 U all
I've ordered so many designs from 'sick' and have never had a problem. Everything seems to stitch out perfect. Maybe the format isn't correct for your machine? Good luck and hang in there, sick is great (try again) and usually very helpful.
Thanks bikermomfl-I know that I have the right format for my machine: ART I have Bernina and my machine "reads" also PES-format. Thanks anyway for this suggestion.
Dear Sira. I have Design by Sick membership and I haven't problems with the designs that I have stitched until now. Sorry to hear that you had problems with them. But contact them as Cutiepie says. Flower and XoXo
sira , I am sorry you had a problem with Designs by Sick, I have used them for several years with no problems sewing out. Please contact support ( Laura or Linda will help you out ) A flower for you . Hope you get this straightened out.
Thanks Nglover- I contacted them and I really hope they can help, because these designs were soooo cute -even though they didn`t embroidered well.
Wow... That's strange. I don't think I have had any such issues over the last 2 years with designs I got at DesigbnsBySick... I am sorry you have had problems tho! I know that I like their site because they have so many freebies everyday I can try one of a set and see if it works for me before I buy more. I always check the stitch out charts before buying to be sure that I don't plan on putting a high stitch count design on lightweight material. Some designs and some materials are rather picky about being 'properly' stabilized too.
I know I have spoken with a couple of people that bought FSL or similar designs that were meant to be put only on a solvable type stabilizer and they found when stitched on fabric it was too much... but that goes for anyone's designs... in here or else where.
DesignsBySick is a mainstay for me because they have a lot of unique designs and many that are well above the quality of normal 'freebie' or 'club' quality designs you see on other sites. What 2 designs did you have problems with?
Hello Silver and Babyred those emb. designs which caused me grey hairs were : Kitty come down and Hanging puppies.
Sira, hope you do contact Designs by SiCK, either directly or through cutiepie. It's disappointing when designs don't turn out right, but if they are obtained from a reputable place, it's best to notify them. This way they can *fix* things for you. If no-one tells them, they don't know, and most places are keen to have happy customers. Hugs and a flower for you sweetie.
You are absolutely right Ruthie. I contacted them and now I`m waiting for reply.
Sira, what were the designs that you had problems with? I am actually associated with Designs by SiCK and would like to help you out. Or, if you contact our support team at http://www.designsbysick.com/help... Laura or Rob can help you out as well. Both of them are wonderful ladies and very knowledgeble. I know that certain of the design sets have been created using auto-digitizing software and then "tweaked" to make them better, and that can make for some "bulletproof" designs if the digitizer isn't careful. As others have mentioned, there are multiple digitizers that work for Shawn (the site owner). Some of us are not as experienced as others, and I'm afraid that it can show when it comes to the designs. However, if someone lets us know that there are problems, we DO work to fix them and get out a better product.
Cutiepie , I have used there designs for several years with no problems .You are right Linda & Laura always have a answer.
Thanks Cutiepie- I contacted them and left the message. Hope they can help with these designs!
I am sorry you had such a bad day. I have done ALOT of designs from sick and have never had a problem. What designs were giving you problems? I am now working with the Jacobean Ferns and they are stitching out beautiful.
Hello Silver and Babyred those emb. designs which caused me grey hairs were : Kitty come down and Hanging puppies.
Myself I've used quite a few of there designs and I had no problem what so ever.Sorry to hear you had such a terrible time with yours.Heres a great big warm hugs and hope rest of day is much much better.
Thanks Tmbache you are so thoughtful. The day (Saturday) was a bit better when I finally finished them!
Hi, Sira. I'm so sorry you had problems with some designs from SiCK! Please remember, as Jrob said, they have many many digitizers there, some may be better than others. Also, I don't think they retire designs, so some may have been done when somebody was learning. Do test sew everything! And if you have any kind of software, look at the design in the software first, and do a 'slow redraw' (that's what mine is called in Janome software), it 'sews out' the design on the computer screen, you can spot strange jumps, stray stitches, lots of problems that way first before it gets to your machine. I had a problem with a Dakota CD having a design with a whole goofy number of stray stitches showing up from nowhere, and I paid $55 for that CD! Give SiCK a chance, they do everything they can to make things right for you when you contact them with a problem. They are super nice, helpful folks. I don't use a lot of their designs, because I don't have any 'littles' of any sort around, but what I have used I have not found a problem with. Good luck to you!! Marji
Hello Marjialexa I have that "slow redraw" in my program, but I was so sure that those designs would embroider fine, so I didn`t check them! Maybe this is what "they" call learning.
I have found their designs to not be dense enough (or they use ridiculous fills on the animals instead of satin stitches). I don't download anything from their site anymore. It's sad, because I'm a paying member! :-( I just can't find the quality I've come to appreciate there. Very few designers give us what we have here at CUTE or Embroidery Library. When you know a good thing, you keep coming back for more! xoxo
I had a problem with the density of one of there design, wrote to them and they fixed it, they are very nice people, ready to help . *
sira, sorry for your trouble - it is always better to try designs - before you buy - have you contacted that site?
I have found a few that I wasn't exactly ecstatic with, but keep in mind that there are many, many different designers on that site. Another reason to always do a test sew out. I'm sorry that you had a problem and hope the rest of your day makes up for it;)
Thanks Jrob- I`m in abetter mood now. As we say here in Finland: Maybe some day the sun shines in brushwood.
I did find that the biker cat I did recently was kinda dense, but other designs were fine. Wonder if it could be the thread cuz my rayon 40 made it look dense and regular gutermann or mettler thread turned out beautiful?!?! Just try that?! Who here made that quilt with all the biker animals? Were they Desings By Sick? Did you have problems?? *'s and a hug for you frustration.
Thanks Joaniessw I wouldn`t have thought to embroider a design with a regular thread. Have you done this often ?
So sorry you are having problems. I have only stitched out one or two of the designs I got from them. I don't know what the problem would be for you, but sure that some of the more experienced Cute friends can offer help. But, bless your heart, and *2U
Thanks Dlonnahawkins for you kind words. This was my first embroidering using their design and I have purchased several sets from there- pity. Now I`m afraid to try another design!
First try it out on a scrap of material that's like you want to do the design on. I keep old crapery valances, pillow cases, things like that to test designs on.
They have 49 freebies a day... maybe try something else? If ALL of them are an issue them maybe there is a problem with your stabilizer or your machine?
