Here is a Folded Fabric Purse I did tonight. It took me awhile to figure it out on paper. Then when I did it in fabric it was harder, so I just adjust it. This is the first purse and practice makes perfect. So I will do another one that I hope to have a design on it. I used a thin batting, but still seemed to thick. Any suggestions?

Just wish I knew how to put the pattern with diagrams onto this site. It is really easy when you know how.

I will hold a class to show you how to make this purse/bag. You are all welcome. I have made 8 of them and the original pattern came from a friend of mine who got it from someone else. That is what is called sharing!

You did very well. i also figured them out and they get much easier after the first one. Where did you get the pattern for this one?

I think it is cute and yes, practice will make it quicker and easier. Try pressing it with a hot iron to meld the batting and reduce the thickness.

Make a big square, fold a corner down into a triangle, then fold in both edges to meet the sides, fold down the top. Try it on paper. EASY once you figure it out.Your square will be 16x16 or larger with 2 pieces of fabric, sew them together and turn right side out. Try one.

Looks fine for a first try. Practice makes perfect (so I've been told). *4U

Looks fine to me. You could trim away some of the batting on the inside sections that overlap to avoid some of the bulk leaving the batting on the outside portion for a body and a smooth look. Or instead of batting you could use fusible medium to heavy interfacing that would still give the purse body and shape without the bulk.

I was thinking of the interfacing too. The batting is just to thick but yet it is thin. Thank you
