I also see the same type of thing when I convert a file from dst to pes or hus when the only format available is dst or emb. It has made me more careful to get a color chart or screen print of the design so I can change the colors back. Don't know what the problem is, maybe it is the threads, but I've had my threads set for the same brand and that didn't seem to make any difference, either.
Good question. I know when I download designs and have to convert the black usually changes to green. Thanks for the question and answers. Now I'm not so clueless.
Good answers here. I usually download both PES and HUS formats and then quite often save a pic of the design so I know what it should look like for colors. Also having Wilcom Truesizer helps as it will do a "Redraw" of the stitching so you can tell what colors are being stitched where and what order. *4U ><>
HUS does not have as many colors stored. It tries to match close to what is available. Pes usually downloads the colors more correctly. My Viking will use pes designs. Also another difference is what thread type you have your software set up for- ex-Maderia, Robinson Anton and etc. That probably makes the biggest difference. Some sites tell you what thread they use. Some also have a conversion available, but that is time consuming. If possible I always print out a color sheet if available. I was told to down load VP3 but most sites do not have that available. 3D and 4D produces VP3 designs.
That's why it's best to download either a PDF of the image with color selection or a text file. Not all file formats support the same colors (and some digitizers don't pick a particular color # for a thread... they'll just say "red") This transfers into your software differently. :-)
and everything tends to turn to gray. If I download it as a pes and then convert in my 4d embroidery the colors will stay. Any thoughts? thanks
