That's wonderful. If you have never had a serger - you are gonna love it. Congrats!
My original Bernina (made by Juki) is 26 years old and I used a commercial overlocker when I was 15 and working in the millinery industry. So yes, I know I'm going to love having a later model with so many extra stitches to play with. :-))
Congratulations on your new purchase, and I wish you a very happy birthday in August! Denise
Smart shopper! Have fun and enjoy - love your comment about enjoying it as you can't take it with you - oh, how some forget that and scrip and then retire and don't take the time to enjoy what they saved.
I say good for you!
Hubby is due to retire soon so he keeps saying, get it while you can because once I stop working we won't be able to afford it. So who am I to argue with that logic??? LOL!!!
Lucky You Meganne. We are all making the most of our Dollar value.
Thank you Meganne. Maybe with enough purchases in the USA China will not come to repossess our country. LOL Really great job getting it cheaper. You are a smart shopper!! I am a bargin hunter myself & love buying my own gifts too. That way you get what you want. Last July for my B'day I got myself a Ellageo Plus Embroidery/Sewing machine & a Kola sewing center. Love it!!!
Did not realize you had purchased from Allbrands until after I had made this post. Really we do appreciate your purchase in the USA though.
Wow great saving! Now you'll be stalking the post man heh
Wait, I just thought: Dont they use 120V in the USA and we use 240V here? hrmm
Oh! So my nearly 20 year old Bernette overlocker (by Bernina) is really a Juki? Explains why its never needed a service then :)
Yep, so is mine. They still make Bernina Overlockers
I have step-down transformers for all our US bought electrical items.
My US Elna Xquisite 2 works like a dream, compared to my Aussie purchased Xquisite 2 which, until recently, had caused me nothing but heartache.
Wow thats interesting. You'd think the same company's machines, no matter where purchased should work great.
Do you leave the USA plugs on them so that you dont accidentally plug it into one of our power points? I think I'd have to .. just so I didnt blow it up lol.
re the overlocker: I guess that explains why it was over $1000 when my dad bought it for me then (much to my mom's horror lol) .. good score for me, I've used it almost daily for all these years :D
Yes, I leave the US plugs on them. DH has lots of US power tools but he often forgets and plugs the chargers into our sockets, (I haven't figured out how yet???), and of course the chargers burn out instantly. I get very annoyed with his carelessness.
Congratulations Meganne. I not so long ago bought a Juki machine for my work sewing (dog leads and collars etc). It's going really well and handles the heavy duty webbing really well with an easily adjusted tension dial on the front at the top. Luckily I was able to buy it locally to me, but there don't seem to be that many Juki dealers in Australia as yet.
They make a really nice machine and they have been around for a looooooooong time.
The use all heavy duty parts because they started out in industrial machines.
They have been making Bernina overlockers since forever, they made the wonderful Elna machines for years and also made Singers.
They will be releasing an embroidery machine under their own name, in the not too distant future.
There are currently only three or four Juki dealers in Australia and they still mostly cater to the industrial side of things, but I have been advised that, THAT may change and Juki may start a push in Aus. I hope they do, as it will give the big 4 something to think about. :-)))
If not too personal, did you have to pay much freight and import duties etc on top of your price paid??
Freight was included and was on special for half price.
GST, will cost 10% and duty will only be applicable on the value amount over $1,000 AUD on the day it arrives in Australia. So if it is worth $1,200 AUD Duty is paid on the $200
It is still so worth it. The price for the machine on its own, in Aus, is $1,900, plus freight from Melbourne, plus for a pack of 6 accessory feet they want $500. Then there is the value of the other free gifts, which I would have to buy separately here.
Well worth buying.
WOOHOO! Congratulatons Meg, I bet you can't wait. Love Chris
Sure hope you get it by your birthday - enjoy - looks like a dream.
Juki is a good brand, you should have lots to enjoy with this machine! Congratulations!
Please Cuties wish me luck that the one I get is a good one, I have waited sooooo long for this!!!!
Hugs n roses, Meganne
I don't wish to burst you bubble Meganne but I hope you got a brand new machine from them as they also sell refurbished machines....I know because I bought a
SD270D Brothers Embroidery/Sewing machine from them 4 yrs ago, because my friend had gotten one & hers worked great. I had trouble with it & I could not go to the Brothers dealer here or through Brothers with the warranty I had to deal through Allbrands. They had me send it back to their factory for servicing...I had to pay the shipping & insurance. They sent me another machine...I assume it was refurbished as it also had problems. I called Allbrands & raised Holy you know what with them & told them I wanted my money back becasue I paid $400 for that stupid machine & they had it more than me. I finally got through to the manager of Allbrands & told him what I had been through & was not going to keep sending these machines back to their factory every month or so & wanted them to just refund me my money. He made things right with me by sending me out a brand new machine. Which is what they should have sent me in the beginning since I believe I paid for a new machine & they were sending me refurbished ones instead. It still works great 4 yrs later & I have not had to send it back to them. Just wanted to warn you that your warranty will only be good through them so if you ever have any trouble with it while it is under waranty your dealer in Australia will not service it under the warranty you will have to send it back to Allbrands here in the US. Just something to think about. I will never buy on line again because of that bad experience. I do so hope you do not have any problems with your new purchase. Hugs, Alta
Meganne this pardon the expression sucks: Non-US Warranty: 30 days parts and labor
US Warranty: 5 Years Mechanical, 2 Years Electrical, 90 Days Adjustments on defects in material or workmanship.
Thanks for the warnings but it IS listed as a brand new machine and if I have any problems I have a friend high up in Juki who will see me right.
I don't worry about warranties when I purchase big ticket items from the States, and so far I have been blessed to get a better product than the same one I bought here in Aus.
It's only money and I have learnt that I can't take it with me, so, what the hey, I may as well spend it while I'm alive to do so. :-)))))
Congratulations! And thanks for helping our economy, we sure need it! LOL... Show us a picture of it when you get it, and may you enjoy it in good health!
