I made this quilt for my parents 60th wedding anniversary, over 10 years ago. Sent my brothers and sister, the in-laws and their offspring a square each and asked them to decorate any way they liked. One brother opted out, which left me 5 empties. So I made the family tree in the middle, embroidered the names on the leaves by hand, machine embroidered the dates and initials, that compensated for 4 squares. On the final square I copied the engagement photograph (as I had no wedding picture). The quilt still has pride of place in my father's bedroom.

That was wonderful to have everyone contribute, no wonder your father is so in love with it! It's quite beautiful and I'll bet more so, if we knew as he does the significance of the squares.;)

mops - is Martine your name?

mops by mops 26 Apr 2008

Yes, it is. I wanted to sign in with m followed by the first 3 letters of my surname, pos. Made a typing error and got mops instead. Have made many typing errors since..
