I started this quilt over 11 years ago when I bought my first home, before I got married. I got really frustrated because some of the denim is stretch denim and I couldn't get it to line up right. Each row was a different length, so I set it aside. I was going through a box and found this and decided I would shorten blocks as needed to make it work just so I could get it done and over with, lol! Its from clothes my girls wore growing up and the batting is from an old king size mattress cover that I added pieces to to fit the quilt. The yarn for tieing, the thread I stiched it together with and the binding are the only parts not recyled. Its quiet heavy! My husbands loves it, both the colors and how heavy it is, so its going in our motor-home for when we travel.

17161This is a wonderful quilt for your travels. When I've done quilts from clothes I use iron on interfacing as a stabilizer for the fabric so the fabrics don't stretch. Makes life a little easier when putting it together but would make it tuff if you are going to hand embroidery your states on there. Yours turned out fantastic and love the tie look for this. It's sure to get alot of use during your travels.

Thank You! I've been thinking about using some sort of stablizer if I use stretchy material in the future. Great idea!

Thank you! Thats what my hubby said too. He couldn't find it until I pointed out where the problems where. He said we are always our own worst critic, lol!

Thanks. sewdoctor, my husband snuggles up to me in the winter to get warm, he calls me his little personal heater. In the summer he says he can feel the heat radiate from me and tells me to stay away, lol! Must be a femal thing, I havew to hang my foot out from under the covers or I get overheated in the winter.
