wondering if all of you creative people out there might be able to help me with a project. I have a very sweet and dear friend who has been plagued with cancer most of her adult life. Slowly, she is losing the battle. She had surgery to remove a large amount of it, and the Dr. was pretty sure he got it all this time. She went in for her post-op appointment, only to find that her cancer has already returned! She is the most wonderful person you could ever meet, and is a real fighter. But even she is starting to lose hope.

I wanted to make her a lap quilt, embroidered with pictures and positive affirmations. I'm wondering if you all could help me come up with some SHORT sayings that might help keep her spirits up and help her stay strong and continue to fight. She loves dogs and all animals, is a very strong Christian lady, and all of the neighborhood children get really excited when they see her outside, because she allows them to go on walks with her (with parental permission of course). She is the pied piper of children and animals. On the dark side, she has two adult sons and a boarder who leach off her and treat her like their own personal slave. It is her selflessness that is being abused here. Anyway, if you could offer sayings, short prose, affirmations, etc., I would appreciate it. I haven't figured out how to use all of those beautiful fonts on my computer yet, other than to pick out the letters I need and put them on my memory stick. Therefore, the request for the short sayings.
Thank you! This is a wonderful community and I know that you have imaginations beyond belief.

I want to thank you all for answering so wonderfully! I will use your suggestions!! I'm going to keep your suggestions for this project and others besides! Thank you so much for taking the time to give an answer. You do not know how much I appreciate this. Some of your comments made me cry. I'm sure they will her as well; but not all tears are bad... Thank you!!!

Lyn, what can be more uplifting than God's word. Chris has given you Sewbirds URL, go there & get your quilt squares free. I am currently working on a quilt with ea. sq. containing one of God's promises & it blesses me just doing the squares. The squares sew out beautifully./Lillian

A saying I came across which might be too long is: Yesterday's history, tomorrow's a mystery and that's why we call today the PRESENT! It keeps me going at times.

What a sad story, but also full of hope and warm support from you. I'm sure your friend really values all you do for her and your presence in her life. Two sayings I really like are:

My Goal is to Live Forever -So Far, So Good!

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

How sad! Life can be so cruel sometimes BUT she is lucky to have such a wonderful friend in you. I wish you and your friend all the best (PS these sayings are from www.finestquotes.com)

1. Friends are kisses blown to us by angels
2. Begin to weave and God will give the thread
3. Problems are not stop signs, they are guidelines
4. When it is dark enough, you can see the stars
5. Storms make the oak grow deeper roots
6. Let your tears come. Let them water your soul
7. Listen to what you know instead of what you fear

I'm sorry to hear of your dear friend. My cousin is fighting a cancer battle right now and that is what took my mother from me to early. I'm sure other cuties are going to come along and give you many suggestions.

Dear Dee Lyn,

I'm so sorry to read this and I know what you are going through. I lost my best friend to Cancer in March and I miss her so much.

There are some wonderful biblical verses on the site listed below. Have a look at them.

God bless you for caring so much for your dear friend.

Love and blessings Chris

So sorry to hear about your dear friend. I am sure that you will receive masses of help from the Cuties. I DL (advice from a fellow Cutie) a program called EMBROIDERY FONTS PLUS by Embroidery Designs. It is a free program with three different fonts. Takes a bit of trial and error but I am thrilled with it. It also arches the lettering. Well worth a try for your sayings for your friend. Sarah.
