So sorry for your very disappointing day. Think it has a lot to do with the economy today. Don't get discouraged.
I know how you feel. Most people will look at how it is made & say to their friends as they leave your booth. Oh I can make that myself. Trouble is they will never ever attempt to do it...so they should have bought yours in the 1st place. I know how it is as I use to sell at fairs, markets, etc. Have you ever tried to list on Esty? Its a lot cheaper I hear than eBay & has really taken off as a selling spot. My friend also told me you do not have to become a full time seller & its cheaper to sell on a parttime basis I guess. Shopping on the computer is a lot cooler in the summer than outside on Sunday markets. Plus people that shop by computer usually will be shopping with Christmas & winter in mind about now. I wish you luck...I know I did good selling stuff on eBay summer or winter. I have yet to try Esty but soon will when I get a stock of things to sell. Hope you are feeling better.
thank you a lot of lady said good way of useing old jeams .went i can work out how to put photo on i will post some
So sorry, you don't have where you are located, so not sure of the area, but I always always always have bunches of small things to sell. Dish cloths that have been embroidered, towel sets, some cross stitch designs, xmas stockings etc that way at least I'll sell the little things. I've never sold one of my quilts at a fair but have sold bunches from people that saw them at the fair. They took one of my cards, called and poof. So maybe try this next time. just trying to help.....
am in mackay in australia. went i work out to post photo my quilt are made out of old jeams i spent 6 hour on them i sell them for $35 thank you
Times are tough and Markets are getting harder and harder to sell at - but I bet you find a place - that you can show your quilts and be satisfied soon.
Trust in the Lord.
Hope you are feeling better. About 25 years I decided I was going to make dolls to sell. At my first craft fair, I only sold one (at half price) Later my sister took the dolls to the phone company where she worked, and sold all in one day, and started taking orders for more. I think alot of people who go to craft fairs are crafters themselves and can make something they see if they want it. You just need to hang in there and find the right market. Maybe Ebay or Etsy?
thank you i sold some to my work friends but i think some of lady at the market were stening my idea
Unfortunately, although folks love looking some days are like that. I go to a lot of craft/street fairs (husband does electrical) and all vendors go through this upon occasion. I hope the next time is better for you! Kathy
Hang in there sweetheart, times are really tough at the moment the workd over and people are turning their money over before they think of buying I made so much stuff for a Xmas market last year and have eventually donated the lot ot an Aids home. You will sell, just be patient!!!
When i go to a craft show and find something I really like I will buy but only if I cannot make it myself. Usually i have the supplies at home and can make my own version.
thank you any one can make my jeams quilt
you just need 9 old jeams and 6 hours
So sorry, that's disappointing, isn't it. But as others have said, the economy is so tough right now that even if people like it and think it's worth the price, they don't have the $ to spend. Just a thought, too. Most people who go to craft fairs, etc. really don't take enough money with them to make a major purchase. Perhaps if you also sold some smaller, inexpensive items, and had business cards and tags on everything with your name, number, etc., you'd sell something cheaper and people might then contact you when they wanted the more expensive quilts. And, I agree with others about the heat!! Right now, if somebody was selling an alpaca sweater for 50 cents, I wouldn't even bother to look, it's too darn hot!!! Keep at it, and keep your chin up, you'll eventually succeed. Crafting of any kind is a tough business with lots of ups and downs. In this bad economy, more downs than ups. But it's gotta get better. Big hugs, Marji
I guess it is sad, it might just be the tough times. When I go to the markets there is normally lots I want but most often I can not afford
So sorry they did not sell. Hopefully its the wrong time of the year to even think about buying them and as the weather cools off they sell like crazy!
I make quilts myself for gifts, but in my area nothing sells, and I mean nothing. I live 5 miles north of a small town that has become a "bedroom community". No jobs and no one has any money. Plus this year has been unseasonaly HOT & HUMID way beyond normal. Last thing on my mind to buy is blankets, quilts, or winter clothing.
Good Luck at selling them! Theres always a rainbow after a shower. Hopefully yours comes soon. :)
It's a lot of work making quilts but you need to have patience when it comes to selling them no matter how nice they are. Especailly with todays economy. You may have better luck come fall when the weather is cooler. Good luck and I know you'll get it sold!
It was just not your day or the right people, so do
not give up! It is difficult to put such hard work and effort into items, and not make a sale. But, there are a lot of people that browse to get ideas on making things themselves, and others may have loved the quilts, but the economy is preventing them from extra spending at present.
Cheer up! The sunshine eventually comes through after the rain! You are TOO blessed to be stressed!
Wishing you better days!
Angel
I am so sorry that you had such a bad day. It is really difficult when people do not see the work that has gone into your work. I really hope that you do better the next time. Just don't give up, and try not to take it to heart, it is a tough world trying to market yourself these days.
A hug and a flower to cheer you up.
Alice.
Sorry you did not sell. times are hard for many people and lots do not realise the work that has gone into creating an item. Better luck next time!
This is sometimes the case. Sorry you had a none selling day and better luck next time
