Cant say there is really a type of design I dont like myself although not keen on the prim designs
I provide a lot of gifts and I hate it when I have a beautiful design and then asked to do it in horid colours this drives me mad lol...
also hate very dense designs one of my pet hates with embroidery library love their designs but the stitch count is just to high ..
Big hugs from London

Maybe my question fits with your question... What is it about "Sugar Skulls?" I don't get it. I find them repulsive, but some people really like them. Am I missing some connection here or something?
i think they have something to do with the Mexican celebration The day of the dead. When they celebrate those who have gone on with gifts and these sugar skulls. Different cultures have their own customs.
I loved reading all the things that everyone dislikes and some of them are so funny and cute....
I have only been collecting for a year and I have thousands of designs but I hate having to convert a design into my format.....so my biggest hate is a pretty design not in my format.....I know, I have Ambassador, but I still hate it. It has to almost take my breath away for me to dl in a different format...
What an interesting question. Hadn't really thought about it, but I quess there isn't much I don't like. There are some things I'm not fussy about, but I'll do them for my grandkids. Never heard of the prims, went and had a look - I'm not struck on them, but I might d/l a freebie for use for someone else.
I dislike mice, but I do like cute pictures of them - they don't make me think of the real thing.
I am petrified of ferrets, though. Found that out when my son got one for his girlfriend quite a few yrs. ago and we ended up having to have it at our place and it got out! - you think having a mouse run around is bad, just imagine - one of these critters when they get loose and you're by yourself at the moment (son took girlfriend home and they must not have closed the cage properly) and you are relaxing laying back on the bed reading a book and next thing you know something is trying to get up on the bed (bedspread hangs couple inches off floor),but is coming up under the bedspread and you try to keep it down - it keeps trying - you phone son's girlf. house - not there yet - ask please have him come straight home - her father laughs and says what's the problem, is there a mouse and you're up on a chair??!!!
However, if he wanted one put on something I would.
I live in SAfrica and hate snakes would never do one also those stick people, and prim designs sorry!
I know some of you don't like the Primitive designs, but I love them! Cindy's has lots for free. My favorite is this silly cat named Felix! They make me laugh, and I figure I need all the laughs I can get! Isn't he just crazy! Come on, all you who don't like Prims, you got to admit, he makes you smile! Check out Cindy's Seasons set!
Kinda like this guy, especially his smiling Halloween-y head. Like the 30's or 40's Halloween stuff that's made a bit of a comeback. Thanks for the link!
Interesting question. No when I see a design I immediately like or dislike it. Nothing in particular. But I do have favorites like flowers, realistic animals etc. I also have favorite digitizers like Ace Point, Artistic Embroidery, BFC, Emblibrary etc. And also color plays a big role - but at least one can change that to your liking.
I don't like the Rosie designs. I just don't get the fasination some have for her. I will download them if they are free but would only stitch one out if someome wanted me to for them. I don't like the really cartoony/clipart designs either. Mostly the older style clipart ones. I don't even bother downloading them if they are free. Otherwise, I have a huge collection of most everything else - clowns (though I don't buy them), angels, naughty :), creapy crawlies and 4 legged critters etc. Don't think I'd ever stitch a realistic spider or bug out on anything. I had them but I do have some in my free collection.
Lori
This is a great question! I find myself agreeing with most of the answers. I do not like cutesy cartoony big-eyed heavy fill embroidery. Babies with pacifiers, ick! Many of the older designs in DBS are awful IMOl. (Naughty santa, a barbq set that is real cartoony. Redwork rag dolls!) I wish he would clear those out.
I do like some redwork if it is decorative rather than an enormous scene. Floral redwork could look nice tone on tone. A lot of people don't like the prim designs, but there are some I do like, if they are stars, or Christmas trees, or hearts and berry wreaths or something like that. Heartstrings Embroidery has some nice ones.
Not much on the prims or cartoonish designs, but don't mind doing them for someone else. Clowns and spiders are really creepy to me and I don't even collect them if they are free.I do like sunbonnets and FSL.
Great Question! Not so much a desin as it is a type of material I won't embroidery on. I have given up on knits like t-shirt etc type material. All I succeed in doing is making a mess of the material or my machine! FSL makes me nervious enough that I haven't try it yet becasue my machine just doesn't sound good when I work a dense design. I have had problems with dense designs in the past so thats why I haven't tried it yet, lol!
This is such a shame as it is so rewarding sewing on t shirts. It sounds as if your machine is the trouble and not you. Try again and do a design with not too many stitches - about 10,000. Just an idea.
For T's you need an iron-on mesh stabilizer. Hoop some tear away or cut away stabilizer, spray some sticky stuff like Kk2000 and stick the t onto the stabilizeer -NOT hooping. Pin down to the stabilizer outside the pattern area, and it works great.
Some very interesting answers. There are no designs that I really dislike. What I do not like is getting a design that looks great and stitches out like ............(terrible). Will have to have a look at these prim annies designs too. Marg
Wonderful question Bev. Amazing how many people do not like clowns (me included). I am not keen on stick people, redwork but my very worst and I will be shouted down for this - is anything to do with toilet paper, from cellophane covers to embroidering on the paper itself. I just think it is tacky. Thank goodness we are all different. *4U all. Sarah.
i am with you the toilet paper is i dont know...i wold rather spend my emropidery time on something else
Realistic looking skulls, ANY clowns, prim designs, stick people, dancing fruit & vegies with arms, legs and faces....also any design that has been badly digitized for some reason this really affends me!!
One of the designs that annoy me are babies with pacifiers or bottles. Not into clowns either, and I know of kids who would run screaming from a kids concert if there was a clown or pirate character. I like most things that show a sense of humour. Great question, Bev!
I think some Adults would go running also. Clown must of scared us when we were young and some just never forgot.
I have to agree, I will NOT stitchout dseigns of babies with pacifiers at all....
Wasn't there a movie with an evil clown in it, maybe from our childhood??????
the movie was called "IT" adapted from Stephen King's novel by the same name.
Very interesting topic..as long as the creepy crawly stuff is made of thread, I'm ok, no real stuff please, I can pretty much work with all designs but really dislike some
"topic" design series (won't mention, don't want to hurt anyones feelings)and I wish some designs weren't so expensive.
I don't like the Santas on the pole, nor do I like designs that say " To sexy for my diapers" And I don't think I would take any amount of money to embroider them.
Wow--looks like as many people dislike clowns as skulls. I like SSampsel's post "clowns and body parts"
have you ever seen Stephen King's movie "It" or Killer clowns from outer space, If you don't like clowns be sure not to watch.
I luv the annies, skulls, clowns, just about anything. I don't like the designs when they are so dense that they break the needles on my little Baby Lock machine.
No skulls or Gothic stuff. I don't do prim either. It's kind like sea shells. I've gotten very picky. LOL
There are a few that I have downloaded and really love the design but have nearly cried as they do not stitch out very well.
I cry when i see one i really like then get sticker shock from the price. LOL Some i just won't pay what they are asking but a sale usually comes around.
Interesting question. I especially dislike the porn, Zodiac and goth stuff like skulls, etc. Having said that, I have bought some designs from Urban Threads and I couldn't resist the French toast design freebie they had lately. I don't particularly care for Santas, clowns, country, or primitives, not too much into elaborate florals either. I guess I pass up a lot of designs.
not much into angel designs, clowns or body parts. urban & tribal designs i find interesting. prims, skulls & bones depends on what they're stitched on.
this has been a fun question..thanks for asking, bev.
I don't like skulls and bones, Zodiac, Angel animals, tribal designs or any creepy ugly designs, sorry I do like prim designs!!! This was a great question!!!! Oh almost forgot...do not like clowns either.****
I had to google them Bev, Like Chris I had no idea what a prim annie was, if the site I found is what you are talking about then I have to agree with you. Not very attractive. Of course I don't think much about what I like or dislike I try to digitise what others might want. I did a spider for Halloween a couple of years ago and I nearly digitized the whole thing with my eyes shut. I really hate spiders. But my husband loved the design so I put it on a t-shirt for him. but I couldn't hug him when he was wearing it.
I haven't seem the prim annies. Where are they?
I don't care for country, sunbonnet, redwork and sampler type designs.
At first I was unsure about Urban Threads but they are growing on me now. I particularly like the 'steam punk' designs. They remind me of '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea' and all that science fiction stuff. Much of it is now part of our life today like going to the moon.
I am one that likes cute clowns. I have one from Zundt that was great for my 3 grandsons.
I would never stitch any of the naughty designs. I worry about all the naughty stuff everywhere and I certainly don't want it to invade my precious embroidery hobby.
I love this discussion. Bev, this is a great post and gives us a lot to think about. Never a dull moment at cute.

Bev,
Thanks for that link. Now that I have seen a prim annie I can certainly say that I don't care for them.
Marcelle
That's funny, because I just love how they look! But, I've never stitched any, except that crazy cat, of course!
I don't care to stitch witches.
I have some witches that I really like. Halloween was so much fun for me too when my son was small. I always decorated with an angel hair spider web in the top corner by the front door. It had a big fold out black spider in it. (I hate spiders but he was great) Always had a big jack-o-lantern too. My house was a favorite for all the children to visit. I had to have huge bowls of candy. One year when my son was 4 1/2 my husband asked a friend to bring me a pumpkin from over near Tupelo where they had a huge patch each year. When it arrived it was tremendous. That night it kept disappearing from our porch and returning. One time it did not return and the next morning on the way to the Baptist Church Kindergarten there was our pumpkin sitting on the center gas pump at the gas station in town. He was flanked by two other large pumpkins but he was by far the biggest. My son wanted me to stop and get it. My way out of that was to tell him that our pumpkin had a place of honor there so everyone could see and enjoy him.
My favorite witches are at this link. Threads of Time is the digitizer. I think I like Kolindra the best.

Mmm well not thought about this and I cant think of any designs that give me the creeps. Maybe at 3am I might have a answer
Excuse my ignorance Bev - but what are prim annies? Maybe being from Australia I'm not aware of them. Love Chris
I had to google them Chris here is the first site I found

O most definitely I hate hate mice and rats. Noooo way will I embroider one. This is a true story one night getting ready for bed my husband saw a mouse in the closet. I told him there was no way I would sleep in our bed. I told him the only way I would sleep in our bed is if the most could not get in. Low and behold we set up a tent that had a build in bottom on top of our California King size bed. The I crawled in with a flashlight and then he crawled in with the alarm clock. We watched TV through the screen and then fell asleep. Now this we did every night about 8:00pm since he had to get up at 4am to get to work, for at least a month. We don't know where the mouse went. NOOOOOOO mice.
Cindy B.
Cute story, Cindy! Kinda reminds me of when my mom had a mouse in her bedroom. Like you, she is DEATHLY afraid of them! During a HOT summer night, when she only had a sheet covering her, she felt something...looked down (the big mercury light outside gave light to the room), and there was the mouse, running UP her body, across the sheet she had over her! I think that was the night she called my Dad home from work! :)
Well for me its those Santas on the pole in dbc i think there sick :(:( well you asked so don't get mad cause i tell ya lol hugs carolyn
I had forgotten about naughty Santa. He did not bother me but I also did not embroider him or Ms Clause.
I don't like the naughty Mr & Mrs Clause either...but then I just chose not to download them!
They certainly caused a stir . I love Vicki's aka basketcase sense of humor.
WE have just the friend that one of those naughty Santas was perfect for. I made him a naughty coaster and a beautiful one with a Christmas cardinal for his wife! You just never know when you might "need" a design that isn't your regular type..
I loved them - I thought they were quite funny! I know of a couple people I intend to do them for, just not sure on what yet.
LOVE skull and crossbones-but I do hate clowns also, they give me the creepies. I also do not like FSL's-they never turn out for me. Interesting question.
Good question. I had not really thought about it but now that you mention it I realize that I never download certain cartoon type designs (stick people, and prim designs included),also no creepy crawlies (snakes,spiders..),and no skulls!!
Hugs, Nadyne
P.S. come to think of it,no clowns either!
I hate and completely dislike to do spiders and webs,
strangs comics (Manga and such) and clowns as well.
But I like your question and also think like "auntie"
it is very interesting and a good theme to discuss and
think about. Maria
Thank you. Your comment just rolled me over to 23,000 flowers. They can also keep the spiders.
Kids, babies, people, and animals with big heads
Angels
Inanimate objects with faces, (fruit, veggies, cars) just about anyting cartoonish
Prim Annie
Interesting question, thanks for the discussion!
here is a freebie just posted, skull with wings and roses. Urban Threads design.
My daughter and I loved reading the comments of this topic, I don't have a clue what we are creepy about as of yet! Great topic!
I'm with you on the skulls and crossbones but I really hate snakes or anything that resembles one.
I do not like clowns, I have DL hundreds of designs, but I do not have a single clown, I dislike them a lot. RW is OK if it has somekind of shadow in it, I do not like outline RW only I found them too simple.
This is most interesting!!! I am not much into stick people, maybe because I see them on the back windshields with the whole family represented even the dog and cat. I had a stick girl kicking a soccer ball and my daughter said no way. So, I guess she does not like them either.
Ok, I am probably the only one with this dislike, but, I am not a big fan of Sunbonnet Sue's! I know, I think everyone loves them but, I miss not seeing a face!! This is a fun question - thanks for asking!* Laura
You are not alone..don't care for them at all..I don't even download them when they are free...Don't care for the Prim designs either.
I don't especially like them either, although I do have some sunbonnet designs. I did stitch out one of the Mylar Sunbonnets from DBS. I have never liked dolls without faces either!
Oh, my goodness! I truly thought I was the only one who didn't care for them. I thought it was kinda odd that I didn't like them!
I have never been able to understand the fascination with Sues either! It must go back to something in the past. Didn't our grandmothers have Sues on things?
now now ladies do you understand the 'skulls'? At least in the biker world it depicts that underneath we are all the same. Not so bad now are they? But I really really dislike any and all things monkeys, they give me the creeps, and I'm so tired of all the cutesy stuff. A little more grownup for a change would be nice. But then that's just me.
I don't like designs that go overboard with the fancy fill stitches. I prefer mine smooth.
I will not do skulls and crossbones even if some one pays!. They are to far out for me.!
I hate mice! But I might do something on a shirt for Rick - he tinks they are cute - but that gives me the chills - just thinking about it.
Todays freebie is a mouse. Have you seen that Orkin commercial with the 2 rats? Yuck!
If poor ole Annie had a different nose, she'd be fine! But she looks sorta ugly with that big nose! I don't care for the skull & crossbones either! In fact, I refuse to do them for the grand daughters...but don't think their mom'll let them wear them anyway. I like a cute little pirate instead!! Too "dark" for me. But each to their own!!
I agree about the annies. I am tired of all the flowers and cutesy designs. Urban Threads is becoming one of my favorite sites. I like some of the skulls.
Norma
I do like Urban Threads just not the bones. I know the younger crowd is into them.
I'm with you! Don't like ANY of the prim designs, or any of the skulls.
