I have a question. I have a Brother SE400. I can download PES and DST files to my hard drive and then to my machine. I know how to get it from my hard drive to my machineā€¦no problem. But how do I view the PES or DST on my hard drive before I transfer it. Or if I want to find a particular design how do I know what I am getting. I have the Amazing Box Max but unfortunately the card does not work with my machine. Can anyone out there help? I also have some disks with patterns but cannot view them because they are in the PES format. Thanks in advance and hope this is not a silly question *crossing fingers*

I hope that once you learn Embird you will find some answers - I have a Palette (software) Program that I puchased when I got my machine - well a month later - that I use to view my files - it has a database that shows everyone of my files - as I have collected them - I put them in folders and sub-folders - when I am wanted to see the design or figure out what I have - I bring that database up - hoepfull Embird has something similair to that. I can also bring the design into design and editing - it gives me the oppertunity to change colors, size, add another design and etc. When you bought your machine - did they say that you could came back for classes on how to work with your PC & machine - most dealers do that in a one or two class session.

I downloaded Embrid on a trial basis. It looks pretty complicated but so far it is doing what I want and I have just played with it for a couple of hours. Is Palette the name of the software you have? I bought my machine through Amazon so no I was not offered classes. I live in a very small town where there is no classes offered but there are a LOT of ladies that quilt. I have no interest in that area. I am teaching myself via the instruction book. My sister used to embroidery but doesn't remember much. Thank you so much for your answer. *hug*

There are several softwares out there for you to use to see the files on your computer. There are softwares that only let you see the designs (i.e. not edit them or print templates) like Embroidery Brilliancer. And some that help you organize your designs and see them (like Ann the Gran Catalog Express or Buzz Tools). And some that let you do editing too (like Embird - and you can see them in your "my computer" if you also purchase the Iconizer). Most of these softwares have trial periods so you can play with it before you buy it - which is a really good idea.

PS: I think you are a newbie so want to suggest you start an organization process *now* - because collecting designs becomes additictive and your few now will become hundreds to thousands very quickly and starting at the beginning is easier than catching up later.

Welcome and good luck.

Thank you so much!!! After I posted my question I started reading up on Embird and just finished downloading it. I am going to spend the day looking through it.

Again thanks so much *hug*

Iconizer is the add on that allows you to see the design even in your soon to be created files and folders.(organization!) You will not have to be actively in embird program but just searching thru designs or downloading, etc and be ableto see them. Then if I want to edit or do anything I can double click on the design and the program will open up. Iconizer is about $20-25 I think and worth way more. There is also a program from sandcomputing.com that will do little pix so you can see the designs without having to open another program. It's about $25 too I think.
