This is a photo of a chopping board that i personalised for my daughter, the sign language was copied from a design in Urban threads that i am going to embroider and place in a frame for her. This is another way to team things together and the peace and love are what i wish for her. Now she will know what i mean when i do it as i wave her goodbye.Plus it will be there for her to see every time she cooks.

OK How to do it. use a cheap soldering iron file the tip to a point.
use carbon paper to trace a design onto the wood. now carefully follow the lines with the hot tip leaving a burnt line. suttble shading can be done by simply not holding the side of the soldering iron against the wood but simply brushing it over gently a few times. do a test run on a bit of scrap wood first. rub over the design with wire wool to clean it up and check the lines. have fun. annie in the UK

We used to have a wood burning tool when we were kids. Have forgotten about this craft. You did a really nice job and your daughter will love her gift.

I'm 68 and still have my wood burning tool since my teens. LOL
Old is better made than new nowadays.
