I know that many of you do quilts and some of us are relatively new to this hobby as i most certainly am.

i have decided to have a go at an attic window cushion that the single bed quilts can be folded into during the day time for the little motor home.
to get the sections joined together you have to stop 1/4 inch from the end of the one block and then place the next on to it.
NOW. how could i get that vital 1/4 stop so my eyes can see it??????
With the wiring of cogs and the flashing of lights my brain cell started to work.
The little man in my head shouted out it was so easy to do. so how is it done
you take a sticky backed addresse label and useing your quilting template you cut the label into 1/4 inch strips. Next all you need do is put one at the end of the pieces of fabric where you have to stop at 1/4 inch before the end.
Being white i can see them easily and they will lift off with no problem at all.

That would work great for those that can't see the marks on the 1/4 foot or see this easier as mentioned - great idea. I'm sure some have already thought of other ways to do similar things they never thought of until you tweaked their idea cells! hehe
Like a few said - send it to emb. library - who knows!

You are just too clever......I quilt & never would have thought of this. Good way to use up all of my many thousands of address labels that I will never use in my lifetime. Bye Bye labels hello quilts

Super idea! I'm always trying to guesstimate, and that doesn't always work out so well. Thanks for sharing.

I use my 1/4 inch presser foot which already has the mark on it. If you don't have one, just mark one on the foot you use.

You mean your 1/4 inch presser foot has a mark to show you were to stop 1/4 inch from the end of your fabric????? Interesting.

daisy530 by daisy530 05 Aug 2011

Yes. It's clear with red markings.

That is great. I don't have a 1/4 inch foot with my machine but I know I can get one. Will have to look & make sure it has that red markings on it. Thanks for the tip.

so smart - I've been quilting for years and never thought of that. There is frequently a mark on the new 1/4inch quilting/sewing feet but this is much easier to see. Thanks for sharing it.

I think my brain's hard drive is full - I have to make room for new ideas by forgetting something else in there!

Use the sticky bits for marking fabric too; instead of pins. Less pin-pricked and less ouch, ouch, ouch!
Great tip.
