I too love genealogy. Where all have you looked. I might beable to give you a couple pointers.
Thank You but I have mostthat I can do as I have been searching for about 15 years. Family arrived in South Australia. He died as they berthed in Aust and the family disappeared until the boys now married with children reappeared. My line thank goodness.
Lyn, I do feel for you - it is rather hard - if you don't have a family member that can assist you - I did and was so very grateful - but we could only get the family history back 10 generations on both my parents side - so we have 12 generations with my children and then theirs.
We got stuck with our family line - from when they traveled to America - we knew the city and country they came from - but couldn't get them aligned with the families over there - it was sad and no one to help us in the family left. It is such important work and we all need to do it - if we can get someone willing to do the research.
Why don't we ask questions when our parents are alive or for that matter our Grandparents??
There are many times I wished I remembered what I was told by my maternal grandparents and my mother. Good Luck with your searching. I have a cousin who is doing his bit on my fathers side of the family.
Good luck hunting them down. My mom spent 10 years working on our family tree well before the internet. She looked through ship records in New York, Libraries in Washington District of Columbia and searched through many family Bibles. She would get information and then be stalled for a long period of time.
Good luck with your searches. It is also difficult when people are known by a nickname throughout their lives & you don't know what the real name is to search for.
Think I found one in Family Notices. She has married but that is all I can find.
