You can use any software as long as you can save the design in the format you want. I have 3D PRO, which is Husqvarna/Pfaff. Bought it to go with my Designer I. But since then I have got machines of different brands that use .pes and .jef and still use the same software, which I am happy and familiar with. Most of us seem to happy with their own software. Which makes choosing no easier for you.
thank you I will keep that in mind about the formats. Thanks for your help I am soaking it all in.
What are you wanting software to be able to do? That will help us in recommending something for you. Personally, I have Fancyworks Studio, and I love it. If you decide to go the Fancyworks route (or Embroidery Magic 2, which is an earlier program from the same company), I strongly recommend that you do a search for "Aunty M" and buy it from her, along with her tutorial. She is an incredible teacher, and has a private Yahoo group just for those people who have purchased her tutorial where she will post additional lessons and give personal one-on-one help if you need it. She will even call you on the phone if you need that.
Thank you for letting me know about the fancy works. I was almost ready and decided to go the same way as you and I have been to "Aunty M" a while ago but had forgotten about her and now that I have talked to you and know how great her site is and what she does for you, it sounds real good. The first digitizing program that I have tried was the PE-Design 4 but it was my sister in laws and it was only on lend and I had to give it back. i was just about to try and have a go at the digitizing when I had to give it back. What I like about it is that everything comes in one program and I dont need to keep buying add-ons for the one thing. Anyway I was set to go with the fancyworks and Embroidery Magic 2 and then I saw the program that I really want the PE-Design 7. It is on sale and going cheap. But I dont have all the money that they want and only have half. i am going to keep saving for it if I cant get them to make an arrangement with me. When I get my new machine in a few years I will be getting a brother so I thought I would get it for both machines and when my machine was purchased it came with the brother pe-design 1-4 and I thought that I couldnt use a different machine software, but I am learning from all of you that this is not the case. I think if I cant get the deal I want I will go the fancy works. I have watched the video on it and I have a trial on my computer for the pe-design 7. They let you play but cant save anything on it. Anyway thanks for your help it has helped very much and I dont think Aunty M will be ringing me as I live in Australia and is a bit far.
Looks like you have a lot of good answers Good luck, A flower for you.
Thank you for the flower and I think I will need some sort of luck. My mind is frazzled trying to think which one to go with and which one has the most of things to do for the cheapest amout of money etc etc. I am going nuts with it. lol.
Well sandra, you have plenty of info to mull over here, so I'll just give you hugs and a flower sweetie.
Thanks Ruthie I sure do and there are some things that I have learned to watch out for and has been good advise. thanks for the flower.
Most brands have their preferred software. I would just be sure that your machine can use the deisgns produced with the software. Also many can use several formats. I have viking and 4D Extra, which allows me to use about all of the formats that are offered.
Thanks for your coments I will take all this onboard and you have been a big help to me.
I know that Embird is good and not expensive, I haven't try it by myself but I have a friend that has been using it for two years now and she makes really pretty designs. But Bernina is great auto-digitizing, I am learning so I don't know how it works manually and I don't know how much it costs since it was a gift from my husband and he doesn't like to tell me how much he expends in my gifts hihihi ;-P and even I don't know where he bought it. But I can recommend Bernina Artista. I think it is great. XoXo
I went to the Bernina site and have sent an email to ask about the price as they havent got it up on the site, which is anoying when you are looking to see what they all are and to help make up your mind. I have been looking at Embird a lot and well as the fancy works. Embird has a lot of information and tutorial on it, but I dont like the fact that you have to buy all the separate programs to make one. I think I was spoilt with the pe-design 4 I had the chance to use for awhile. Thanks for your help and a flower to you for all your help.
Hi Sandra, you can use any software... just make sure the application saves in the format you need for your machine.
Sandra, this is probably a totally prejudiced answer because I have a super fabulous dealer, but if you have a Bernina dealer, and they sell the Artista software, I might go with it. My dealer sells Janome & Bernina both. I bought both the machine & software there, and they give free lessons in both. Anytime I have a software question I have a local person to call that can help me thru something. And some times I teach her some things, hee hee hee. I don't know what you plan on doing with it, whether you are going into digitizing or just want to be able to resize designs. I suspect the Artista software is expensive, like the Janome Digitizer Pro was, but I have never said of my software, "Gee, I wish it could do (whatever)" It does any whatever I want, including being able to view zipped files, and import zipped files into the embroidery window without unzipping them. But, as I said, depends on what you're actually going to use it for. Because my software is digitizing software, I have learned to digitize, and find that very rewarding. Good Luck, I'm sure others will have other advice, too. Think it through before you spend any money, & get what you really want, not something to settle for in the meantime. You'll end up spending more money that way. Marji
Thank you Marji, I have just read your coments last form the girls I have answered and you have said exactly what I needed to hear and it is what I am thinking that I dont want to buy one or two to make one that does everything or ruch into getting the fancyworks just because it is the cheapest one that will digitize and do the things that I want but they dont have 35 built-in fonts etc. If I had have been able to get a loan for the balance that I needed to get a cheap brand new PE-Design 7 I would have gone for that because I am going to buy a brother innovis 4000D in a couple of years. Thats if I dont go for the innovis 1500D but thats the same thing as you say dont settle for the one you dont want so at the moment the plan is for the 4000D. Well I have to go to bed it is 2.08 am I need my beauty sleep and rest my brain from all this deciding, it has been going on for a few months now. Good night and will be back later. Thanks you always keep me grounded. flower for you.
Sandra, what brand of software are you considering? The dealer or the software should aleart you to what you can use it for, I would think. I believe that you could use the Palette or Designers Gallery from Babylock. *4U
You can use whatever software you want. I have a Brother SE270D and my software is Bernina Artista, the software normally has the possibility to save the designs in different formats and sizes. Flower and XoXo
I have been looking to buy the PE-Design 7 but is expensive. I thought I couldn't use the Artista and had to hve the brother software. I also looked at other cheaper ones including the fancyworks. what so you think is best.
that should read, what do you think is best. Time for bed I think my fingers and slowing down. lol.
And here was me thinking I was the only one that made mistakes like this, haha!!!
