I see cows, pastures, and guineas! But I wish it was palm trees and ocean :-D
Then, again, if I was at the beach, how could I get my embroidery going, sand and salt aren't good for emb machines or computers! Lol
I thought I recognized those Guineas! Hi Grace, my dear friend!! I love the view from your windows!!!! Nebraska is one of my favorite places!!
Some amazing pictures. Here is one from me outside my sewing room. It is winter now so it does not look like this at the moment. Sarah.
How gorgeous to see such beautiful flowers while you sew.
My new sewing room has no windows. YET!
I am green with envy. :-)))
type in your address in google search and it will show you your house and surrounding neighborhood. Try it.
That is soooo coool! I spent about 2 hours one night "visiting" some of my relatives and friends that way!
I often visit my closest Cute friends that way, it helps me feel even closer to them and gives me ideas about their surroundings and what they see every day.
The WWW has certainly broadened our horizons.
I'm loving all the wildlife photos and views from your windows soooo much.
But... don't we have any Cuties in cities or towns?
I live in town and the most wildlife around here is the squirrels in the backyard.
We have a home in the city also, but all I see out of my windows in the city is more houses. I enjoy the country so much more, but with my husbands work, our main home until we retire will be in the city. SIX years to go and back to the COUNTRY.. ;)
Everyday i look out my windows and say to my DH "looks like another Beautiful day" Thats what i see after being blessed with another chance at life. You appreciate Love,Life and Gods creations :)
Actually, I see my daughters small house my DH built for her! And the sky in the background, and my GGD Willow tree we planted for her in my back yard. I love that tree, it is so very pretty just like my GGD. Hahaha! Hugs, Judy
Here is our back yard almost every afternoon. I live in Pleasant Garden, NC USA
DeVon- I remember Pleasant Gardens, NC - it was just down the road from Greensboro - these are lovely pictures of a huge backyard.
Devon what an abundance of what appears to be black tail deer. Such a site to see. I love all creatures & the only way I would shoot one is with a camera. My son said I may someday starve to death. LOL
Beautiful - lovely place. We lived a short time in Greensboro, but then moved to Staley where we built a house in the woods. Then back to Florida - Dh's job.
Your deer are quite different from ours. We have mule deer with huge ears. What kind are these? I'm amazed at how dense the woods is!
Beautiful places!!!! This is what you could see from my window Num. 1 and two Sunset and in the morning you can see cranes seaguls crabs(a lot)
Very very tropical....Hawaii?? Love the red Hibiscus too. I believe that is what I am seeing.
Oh! It is sooo beautiful! Do you ever get hurricanes, though??? Dominican Republic must be amazing!!
The Front Range of the Colorado Rockies & Pikes Peak as we live in Colorado too. I love where you live. We also get to see wild animals too but not as many or as often as you do nor the variety unless we go up to Cripple Creek for some fun then on our way up we ocassionally see Elk, Deer, Wild Turkeys, Rocky Mountain Big Horns & of course the free roaming pack of Burros which are the ancestors
of the ones the miners turned loose.. I can't seem to ever download pics to this site...so can't add pics of my view. Will have to try from my other computer someday.
Wow! Another Coloradan! I think we are the only two so far...
We'll have to meet half way sometime. It takes us 2.5 hours to drive to Denver, over Berthoud Pass, which can be tricky in the winter. What do ya think???
The first one is the water dragon looking for me when I called to him. (taken with a zoom lens)
The second one is the (I think) Lorikeet hanging upside down in the Grevillea tree, this is right outside our bedroom doors and I wake up to birds nearly every morning.
I have been truly blessed to be alive to enjoy this.
First of all, I'm happy to be back, I was locked out of the site again for almost a week. I don't know what's going on.
We have two homes, city and 27 acres in the country. I love the wildlife we see in the country. Deer, black bear, coons, cranes, wild ducks and geese in our pond. One of my favorites is when the wild turkeys come in and try to eat from the bird feeders. They have their own food on the ground, but like the bird food better.
This was taken from inside the house and they are up on the deck. They love to see themselves in the glass door, and have even jumped at the door thinking it was another Tom Turkey ready to fight.
Those turkeys are too big for their britches! Aren't they something!!! What other birds do you get? Where are you - sorry I can't keep track.... l Beautiful
I have been meaning to tell you I love your "Rosie the Riveter" avatar! How did you happen to choose that one? :-)
I have a website my dad and I developed about WWII
http://www.rememberthedeadeyes.co...
jan
Yes they are...lol. Our city home is in Northern Minnesota, and the Country home is in Central Minnesota. Other birds you ask, We have many different kinds of small birds, I love to watch the Sandhill Cranes do their mating dance in the spring. (I hope I spelt that right)
I am so enjoying seeing all the beautiful scenes. I love the snow scenes so much.
Imagine having wild turkeys come visit, I think I would be very tempted around Thanksgiving if I lived there. :-)))
Live in Maine. Lots of windows and all are my favorite. Here we can expect to see almost anything. My husband has a wildlife camera and puts it in the woods out back. We have turkeys in the front yard, raccoons out back, deer and a few weeks ago a black bear on our front porch who was helping himself to my tote full of sunflower seeds!
Oh how wonderful! But doesn't it scare you living with bears so close. I think I would be terrified for my pets AND myself.
LOL!
Wow that is wonderful to have a wildlife camera you can set up. Best way to capture them without them knowing. I have never been to Maine but hear it is just beautiful. Black bear must have though this is the new bird feeder so I will help myself. How funny that they eat seeds. Guess they will eat anything that is easy to get.
I just love all the wildlife visitors! Does this raccoon come by often? Mine never made it back after winter - so sad. We have bears and mountain lions all around us too. I just rarely see them, though. What's a little loss of sunflowers when you get to share with a bear! Have you had pine beetles in Maine?
It's hard to see the pond and waterfall in such a small picture.
Garden in the summer (3 months), embroider in the winter (9 months). As with embroidery the plants are freebies I gather from everywhere I can.
Well, at the right time, may see some sand hill cranes, eagles, alligators, and other cranes - The first picture is of our back yard at sunrise, the second is a blue heron flying over the pond. And the 3rd - a recent visitor to the pond.
Beth, it is so beautiful, except for the recent visitor that is. Everyone has so many pretty places that they live - don't they?
Beth do you live in the south of the USA? Looks pretty much like Fla or Louisana to me. I grew up in Fla & remember swimming in the canals with these pre-historic creatures believe it or not. When I was a teenager the alligators were poached & afraid of humans & would go away from you. Then they put a ban on poaching & people from the north such as New York would come down for the winters (we called them Snow Birds)& they though it was cute to feed the gators....mistake BIG MISTAKE. This & putting the ban on poaching made the gators not afraid oh humans anymore & they associated humans with food. Many people not only children but also adults & pets have been taken by gators. You wouldn't catch me in any of those waters today. We even swam with Sea Cows or Manatees as they are called. Such gentle giants they were. We were never afraid of the waters in Fla back then even did not think about the water moccasins back then but I sure would now. I am terrified of snakes.
Oops meant to say wouldn't now. Gosh I would be crazy to say I would. LOL
I think my eyes are getting tired am I am seeing things. I think I was right the 1st time around.
Yes, I am in Florida - and I remember skiing in a lake with gators, but sure hit the boat fast when I fell. LOL Snakes - don't like snakes. I never like to be in water that I could not see the bottom. I was skiing once and fell into brakish water. Grasses wrapped around my legs and I was screaming so load my husband thought that something got me. I never would ski in that lake again.
That is so interesting about the alligators' history. Your view is just amazing! I visited my son an family in West Palm Beach last August and fell in love with it there. It wasn't near as hot as I thought it would be. How far south are you?
More Central Florida - I am about 20 miles from Daytona Beach - inland.
I don't have a fav. window - we're in an apt. Oh, such lovely pictures you all have shared - I can only wish.
Live in the city, but built a refuge in the back yard.
You have all seen my ducks out the front window, Henry and Matilda well they have been replaced by about a couple dozen of these...I am not naming them as there are far too many. Jim said the whole neighborhood will have a nice Thanksgiving...I said no way...no one is touching my turkeys!!! My cats think these are the biggest lunches they have ever seen through the window...LOL!! I just shot these this morning......they come early AM and early PM..
some pics are front window some are off sunporch off the back. There are 2 adults and various sizes of "kids".....they stay together mostly when they move but split up in our yard and go front & back...
Wow! Something makes me think it won't be long before we see a wild turkey design!!!! Aren't they sweet!!!
Image 2 & 3 are in the back yard and the foliage is on a creek bank that our land backs up to...that creek is where Henry & Matilda swim!! Occasionally we will get a couple deer in the winter back there. We are in a big city, but our house is tucked away on a cul de sac with alot of undeveloped land on the other side of the creek that the railroad owns, so I think it will remain that way, thank goodness!!
Great photo's - I have never seen that many wild and not on a farm. Hehehe!
Yes thank goodness basketkase.....to know you will not have neightbors building there. I have 23.8 acres in Northern Ca that I wanted to retire on that is backed up to BLM land on 3 sides. Only trouble is I am now living in Southern Colorado because when I retired the land in Northern CA was & is still way to secluded & to far from Drs & hospitals. I guess it was not meant to be as I would have been way to far away from the medical I needed last yr when I got leg then lung cancer. I would still love to move there though as it is so peaceful & quiet & all you hear is the birds..see many deer & I'm sure a bear or two.
I am so sorry to hear your retirement plans did not work out due to illness. Some things are just out of our control. I hope you are doing well.......
That would be my embroidery room. Love it at night because I see all the lights. During the day I see the hills where no houses are built and in summer they are so green. I love nature and the pictures below is awesome but I am grateful for what I have.
That makes me remember the view from our first home, in a new suburb addition. We could look across the landscape and see cows in a huge meadow on a hill. I loved seeing them, but it wasn't long before it was all built up with a gigantic, new shopping center. I missed the cows. I'd love to see a photo....
I might see a big black bear or deer, of some other critter. We don't go outside at night! Deep woods of Florida, Ocala National Forrest is 3/4 mile north of our property. Only hear a shotgun or dog once-in-a-while. Bought a shotgun a few years. Never had a shell in it. But I know it's there. He keeps it clean and oiled just in cast.
Black bears can be pretty dangerous! Do you ever see alligators? I'd love to see a photo! Isn't it fun to see all these places?!!! I am always amazed at Palm trees.
Best to keep the shotgun loaded. Bears don't wait for you to load...just a thought. I use to live on 22 acres in Louisiana, my .22 was fully loaded & propped up againt the inside door jam unless I was outside then it was with me. Never had any bears but once in awhile heard what my neighbor told me was a black panther the roamed from some mountain range down to our neck of the woods. Don't know how true that was but early one day my son age 13 at the time & I went out to work in the garden since it was cool out & had rained the night before so the ground was soft enough to pull weeds. We found giant foot prints down & back up the corn row, no where else in the garden. They were cat prints & I took my cat outside to push his foot in the soil to make a print. Could hardly make an indention. I kid you not that print was the size of the palm of my hand. We never did see the cat that made those prints & my neighbors were old farmers so I know it was not some kind of a prank. I use to use my .22 to shoot snakes in the yard as I had 4 Mallard Ducks raised from babies (reminds me of basketkase's Henry & Mitilda) I had 2 Drakes & 2 Hens & I would bring them up out of their pen in the am to the front yard so they could wander in search for things to eat. We they got deathly guiet & would squat & turn their heads sideways looking up I knew there was either a hawk or a snake around. I would shoot the snake coming down the trunk of the tree. I was the protector of my ducks just like basketkase is of hers & now her turkeys. LOL How we think we can protect them all. Not always true though but we try.
Oh, what lovely photos! I have enjoyed seeing the animals and birds so much. I live in the forest, too, but different climate from that snow photo. I'll try to get back later with a photo or two.
My favorite window isn't in my apartment - because we have window wells with closures over the top and I can't see out - we get lots of light. My faroite window was in NC - where we over looked our backyard and a forest through a water embankment where you could see animals and lots of wild birds, especially cardinals.
1. Here is a picture of a tree that wanted to fall but just wouldn't and I loved how it was standing inspite of all the winds and rain - the birds loved it, too.
2. Here is one picture looking to the side of our house - into the forest - as you can see the trees are huge - this was taken in October of 2006 - that window that you can see - was from our bedroom.
3. Here is a picture of the camillia's that I planted from a tiny little bush one year.
So beautiful!! God's creation is just too perfect! Look at those beautiful blossoms!
I can understand why you love it Shirlene.
It is so different to the Australian bush with your gorgeous fall colours and your critters are also different to ours.
When I visited a friend in Washington DC, I was amazed they had no fences and the bushland came so close behind their house that the dears and squirrels came right out of the bush onto their back lawn. It was an unforgettable experience and so close to the Capital I could hardly believe it, especially when we drove across ???Washington bridge and past the Lincoln Memorial only 10 minutes away, the next morning.
HNR, Meg
Beautiful - it is great seeing different parts of the world, and it's wonders.
Thank - I do miss that home and NC - but I also have the mountains and such splendid beauty here in NC - just no windows to see it.
God has created such beauty on this earth of ours for all to see. I just love seeing everyones view. hightechgrammy thanks so much for starting this post & I am glad I was able to log on & stay to see all the beautiful places from everyone's view. I thank God that I have had the chance to see some of what this world has to offer as we have such beautiful places everywhere. I have only been through the US & into Canada once & that was Victoria & if I ever left the US for some reason I think I would go there. Buchart Gardens is so beautiful, created out of a hole in the ground & the architecture of some of the buildings is out of this world.
We don't have windows, only French doors onto the veranda, but from there we see a little piece of Heaven every day and when it is not too cold, it is just magic sitting out there at night and seeing all the stars.
We have all sorts of wild life visitors, nothing as fantastic as moose though. Bird life is abundant but I haven't taken many photo's, some Kookaburra's come visit daily, but they are usually high up in the trees and I can't see them, I only hear them laughing.
The photo's are all taken from the veranda, the first 5 are my attempt at a panoramic view.
The others are just a few of our visitors.
Who wouldn't be happy living here?
Oh My, Meganne! This is just amazing! I can't believe there is anyplace like this in the world! What kind of lizard is that? And wow, is that a parrot of some sort? SOOOOOOO neat!
I love your photos! Different part of the Earth, for sure!
Thanks so much for your comments, I really love it here, I am totally at peace and I tell everyone that when I die, I want to be placed in a boat, set it out on the water and set fire to it like the Vikings do. That's the only way they'll get me to leave. LOL!!!!
Jan, the lizard is called a water dragon, he was quite a large one, over a metre (39") long and he came running across the lawn towards me when I called to him.
I'm not too good on bird names because there are so many different types of Parakeets and Lorikeets.
I'll post a photo of this one hanging upside down, his colours underneath are just beautiful. HNR, Meg
Meganne you also have a beautiful view to wake up to each morning. Isn't it wonderful?
We live in a forest, high in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, and have wild animals walk past my favorite window. Lots of birds come to our feeders. My favorite is when the moose wander by, Mommas with babies, and sometimes 4 at a time. I shot this photo of a baby moose eating dandelion greens on his knees. Another is looking in the basement window at us! Can you see the snow on his moosey lips? The third is taken a couple of blocks from our home, one of my favorite photos ever!
I'd love to see what you see out your windows! Jan
Jan these are so special - thanks for sharing them. Do you have a spare room or two for a visit?
My spare room is now my sewing room - LOL! But we would love to have you come for a visit - can you sleep on a captain's bed in Ben's room? I LOVE where you live too!
These are really special - we don't have moose - want to trade for the alligator?
We have many moose to in my bush .lol they are big and ugly but taste as good as her turkey above lol
How neat!! Love the baby moose! We have lots of birds & small critters. I love my birds & get a kick out of seeing them try to bathe in the water coming over the spill rock of the waterfall...water washes them along!
Our back garden which extends into a bush reserve! Lots of trees, birds and grass. Love Chris
sorry about the double post - hit twice!
Our back garden which extends into a bush reserve! Lots of trees, birds and grass. Love Chris
Lots of sky, fields with golden coloured cows and my vegetable patch.
So cool. What kind of cows are golden colored? What veggies do you grow? I just made some rhubarb jam over the weekend. Do you have rhubarb there? My grandmother used to call it "pie plant."
My grandmother made the best rhubarb and apple pie ever - I sure miss that glorious taste.
Oh my - I remember my molther growing rhubarb, and the best pies. When I came to Florida, I was able to pick up a strawberry-rhubarb pie - so, good. But, can't find them now. Mmmmmm would like a piece to tied me over.
