Hi, I have a Bernina 200e and I bought a used Deco 600 to do free standing lace. It is a little workhorse and does well with everything I have had it do. It even does well with metallic thread. I now call my Bernina 200 a primadonna compared to the deco. Contact me anytime. I would be glad to help you if I can. Sincerely, Carol

I started machine embroidery on a Bernina 600 and found it ot be very user friendly. The more you practice, the easier it gets and the better your results.I'd try to find a general machine embroidery manual or instruction book. The ones that come with your machine assumes that everyone knows how to use it! As you go along you will probably want to do designs other than just on the expensive cards. I would recommend that when you can afford it, get an extra blank card. Also, you may be able to find a used Amazing Box which will convert other formats to pes and let you move designs around. Have fun with this addictive hobby!
I have a Bernina Deco 600 but I am off to Johannesburg at any second. Please send me a private message and I will try and answer any question you may have. I will be on Cute while I am away. Sarah.
