Hi Kay, yes it is amazing how rules can be broken. That is why this site is so great, everyone is willing to help each other. Hugs Yvonne
I had sewed for years but when I bought my first embroidery machine it was all new to me. I bought my machine online so I never went to any classes. But somehow I found this site and all of you "cuties" have been my teachers. I can honestly say that everything I have learned has come from this site, by asking questions, using tips, and adapting what I have read. So a big thank you to all of you who are so willing to share.
Me too, and I watch many sewing and quilting shows on PBS, I record everything I can get a learn new tricks and I wish I had two of me to do the things I love and the other to be a teacher to my girls.. My eight year old to going to sew her first skirt today, we are going to embroider a butterfly on it and she will have a story to tell her friends when she heads back to school...
It reminds me of when I first learned to quilt 14 yrs ago. My teacher and best friend said "I'm going to teach you the right way and after you learn that, you'll learn the shortcuts"! I learned from a "cutie" to tape down the shoulders of your t-shirt when hooping it. Works everytime for me. Hugs..Carol
I have always been impressed at how easy it is to get valuable info right here at cute by just asking! When you are having any kind of embroidery problems from finding a design right down the line to downloading programs online to help our computers do what we need them to do, our members are well versed in all departments.
My fan died in my computer several weeks ago and I just got it fixed a couple of days ago. I have been popping in for just a few minutes at a time and turning off my computer before it got to hot and just shut-down. It has been very irratating and not very very much fun at all! I have not left enough "thank you's" but I did leave flowers! It is nice to be back where I I can stay awhile!
I would like to say THANK YOU to all who have helped us locate our designs, given info, and to those who have given freely of their talents on DBC. I can not afford to buy a new computer so I was trying very hard to salvage this one! It is a DELL and the fan was going to have to be ordered until... my son thought about his wife's old computer and stole her fan out of an otherwise useless computer. It has been out of order for several yrs but the fan works! He did buy one at a local supply place to try but it would not work. It did not put me back but about $6.00. It was worth a try to keep from going through Dell and having to wait on it. I missed being able to get all of the news here on Cute but at least it is fixed and I can catch up now! It is going to take me much longer to catch up on the emails!!!!!(mostly junk)
I used to teach craft. The 1st 'instruction' in my 1st lesson was 'lean what I have to tell you about the technique of this work - adapt it and make it your own'. I felt that way art and crafts would always move foreward to evermore exciting processes.
AND of course my students could teach me!
I've learned so much here and still learning. Cuties are the best!
I love it when a Cutie asks a question. We all can learn something new no matter how long we have been embroidering.
I agree. I have learned so much here by reading all the wonderful ideas and answers others have asked. It is the best place on line.
I think it's wonderful with all the ideas and help. Have a problem (sometimes even if it doesn't relate to emb.) ask a cutie - usually someone comes through.
I just love all the things that are on the site, the people, the designs, the voting, able to PM, able to show off, and learn new things. I have even gotten share some of my quilting experience with the non- quilters are beginners and even some of the things I have learned in embroidery and I thought that would never happen as this time last year I was a brand new cutie.....
Kay, you are so right - always something interesting to hear and tons of help when you need it. I wish I had more time to enjoy this site!! Laura
I love the fact that we all come from all over the world and our interests and ideas of making that one last gift that says, I SEE YOU, I love you, just for you, Made it myself for you.I made it out of nothing but love. LOL
I like it when someone shares a great online supply site and also the heads up when there is a sale going on.
By all means, this is the most interesting aspect , to learn to but the same supplies at a much reduced price. I always love when we share this.
