Pretty shades of wood, love to see handywork so exquisit, must ba a charm to work with.
Bonjour,
Moi aussi je débute dans la dentelle au fuseau (c'est pas facile, il faut beaucoup s'entrainer) mais je n'ai pas la chance d'avoir une aussi belle collection que toi. Si je progresse, peut être me laisserais-je tenter un jour.
These are very nice, havn't seen this many together in years, my mom owned some. May I ask where you ordered these. Thanks Annie
I've contacted a private wood carver who I've met at a lace fair in UK and ordered them especially from him. It took 2 months, because we wanted the variety in special woods and he normally does different styles of bobbins, but I think it was worth waiting!
Must take a photo of my bobbin lace and show you.
Good idea, but I think you already shown them with your nice lace. English style?
I remember seeing them here a while ago. If I'd find it again, I'd "comment" it back to the top...
I am another cutie who has never seen bobbins like these before. Very interesting and glad you shared them with us. *4U
Nice bobbins. I saw bobbin lace made at the state fair and it looked interesting but complicated.
Lovely , all those different varieties of wood. I bet they feel good in the hand.
They do! And they are such an amazing music-instrument as well. I love it. (We ordered ones with especially dense wood, so they are rather heavy for their size.)
Done, I've uploaded the image.
Wow i never saw anything like these just what are they for thread???/carolyn
They are for lace-making the old-fashioned style :c) (By hand)
Over the years of designing for machine embroidery, we found our best inspirations in bobbin-lace designs - well, and decided we (that is the "femaler" part of "us") want to try it ourselves. It is SLOW. VERY SLOW. But still nice... I'm going to upload the first result in a moment...
