I have know several people who suffered with the shingles and understand it can be quite painful, as well as the rash and redness annoying. From what I have read and heard the shingles are a strain of the chickenpox virus and anyone who has never had chickenpox is susceptible to catching the virus from you, as long as you have any sign of the rash. A male who never had chickenpox as a child needs to stay away from you until the rash is past.
I wish you good luck on healing quickly to see that new grandbaby, but I would be sure I was completely well, so as
not to transmit the chickenpox. Once someone has shingles in their system, I think there is a chance of future flareups, as the virus lies dormant in the body.

Has your doctor suggested an antiviral medication to help you heal faster? It might be worth a shot. Stress can actually make them worse, so if ever there was a time that you need to be taking it easy, being lazy and indulging in yourself, NOW is that time. My aunt had them for months. Every time she would start to get better, she would work herself to exhaustion and tried to deal with too much, and have a relapse. Put your feet up, think happy thoughts, do something that pleases you but is restful (watching your embroidery machine while mindlessly listening to music or napping comes to mind) would be very helpful. I hope that you find relief and results soon. Hang in there.
Boy, seems like a lot of people have these lately! I don't ever get shots for anything, being a bit stubborn, but this is one I might consider. Maybe there's some new strain out there of something. I so hope you stop itching soon, friends who have had this said it's enough to drive you mad. Maybe hubby should think about that vaccination sooner than later...Best of luck, and itch prayers, Marji
GET THE SHOT!! It is costly, but let me tell you, this is something terrible to have!!!
did you go see the doctor he gave me something and i was better fast ??Prednisone think it was called Carolyn
I have Carolyn. And was put on medicine last Wed. for this. It's gotten worse as time goes by. I am beginning to think it's not shingles, but something else! Will be on the phone tomorrow at 9 AM to get in again.
There is a vaccination for shingles so as soon as you get them cleared up go for the vaccination as they tend to be reoccurring. Hope you feel better before the birth of the grandchild.
Dr told me I had to wait 6 mos. to get it. Believe me I will be in there begging for one in 6 mos!!
Found this at the CDC web site and copied it for you and left the link. Might consider another opinion to get it quicker.
"There is no specific time that you must wait after having shingles before receiving the shingles vaccine."

Dear Gerry, I do hope the shingles will settle down soon for you. It's hard not to scratch, but I'm hoping you are taking something for that. I hope you have a lovely time visiting your new grandchild and I hope your daughter has a trouble free birth. Love and blessings Chris
Gerry, stress is the worst thing for shingles - when my GD had them - they almost had to put mittens on her - she was in her teens and still wanted to be out and about and needed to stay at home - I will be praying for you dear - hope you have seen the doctor, too.
I am so sorry I know how you feel. Sending prayres your way. DeVon
Oh I do feel for you, shingles is awful, you poor thing. I only got releif from ibroprophin and paracetamol combined. I will think positive thoughts for you and hope you are able to get to help your daughter soon. I had to write down what I had taken and when as I felt too ill and could not remember
