PS.... yes, I do feel sorry for you because you're battling this problem alone.
I wish I lived just a tad nearer to give you support.

Thank You Alma, I will get it sorted. Have Ladies Day on Monday but come Tuesday I will ring him and if he hasn't fixed it I will collect and take it somewhere else. Seems like a few in Yellow pages. I will not recommend this guy to anyone again.
Lyn - that is a terrible phone call to get!!!
You seem to be doing all you can at the moment and the mistake has to be corrected. However, have you tried anyone else in/around Adelaide?... like the one below?

I'd be giving them a ring to see if they are willing to have a look at your machine when you get it back. Of course that's going to be even more expense but it might be worth the cost of the trip down to Aberfoyle Park.
Let me know how you get on.
I hope you've been able to get onto Brother Australia by now.

I know how I would feel. That is the reason I travel about 2 hours to a very special mechanic who not only does a great job but shows me how to do a lot of things on my own. There is one shop only 5 minutes away. Take a guess at why I do not deal with him?
yes unfortunately true, like you I learned the hard way. Hope you get your baby back soon.
well, I do hope everything will turn out okay and your machine will be fixed properly. Hugs for you.
i is unbelievable that someone supposedto be a machine tech can be so inept hope it sorts out soon.........soozie
I thought this guy was really good, but now I find that he hasn't had anything to do with Brother machines. He is a Janome man.
With a bit of luck those screws belong to some other machine and yours will work fine with or without them. You would think he would have had the schematic diagrams of your machine model before he attempted to work on it. Hope it all works out and you get your machine put back together soon with all it's screws and parts working.
In a way I hope the screws belong to mine, otherwise he might take forever looking to see where they come from.
Not a good news I hope everything turn out to be ok. Maria
WOW! Sorry this happened, but he must be clueless!
All you have to do is start taking it apart again and with each step look for spots where screws go because they don't just go anywhere!
But to have phoned you and told you he had two screws he doesn't know where they go! guess he doesn't have any common sense - oh right, many have lost that these days.
You should contact the dealer you bought the machine from and talk to him - if you don't tell him about what happened how is he to know this guys has a few loose screws!? At the least you should not have to pay for poor service.
Have sent a message to Brother in Aust asking if they can suggest someone around me. Hope they can come up with someone.
Lyn, I sure feel for you on this one - getting a good repair man is harder than I thought - if I were him and had 2 screws loose - I wouldn't be telling anyone. Hehehe!
Well, everyone said the same things I would have..I especially liked basketkase's numb nuts! LOL ...sometimes these screws are not as important as you may think..probably just to hold something together, or a part on, you know something little like that! Perhaps, they came out of his head...
I will leave the machine with him until I find someone else. Yes Maybe HE ids a screw loose.
You have my sympathy, honey. Look at it this way, if he doesn't put it back together the way he found it, he can just buy you a new one, that has all its screws! ***4U Tammy
I have been tossing around to buy another, but there are too many other things around here that need fixing first.
You would think he should know enough to take it back apart and look for two spots missing a screw. This guy needs help. You may have to go watch him take it back apart and help him put it back together. You probably know more about it than he does.
Hang in there. Cuties are thinking about you.

I just know that if I do get my machine back I will NEVER tale it back to him.
OMG.....why should you know where these screws should go, for heaven sakes, you weren't there when he took it apart!!!! Unbelievable.....march back to the place you bought it or call them and let them know what is going on, after all you took it there upon their recommendation....if they want to keep their reputation in tact they should help you in some way deal with this numb nuts!! I am furious for you, these are not toys!! Good luck to you....I feel for you.....Vicki
I am going to make a call today. Was too angry yesterday to take it out on some other poor shop assistant.
That's terrible. You need your machine, but would be so afraid to use after he worked on it. I'm so sorry that happened to you.
Think it all stens from him just changing the tension when he didn't need to.

LOL, sorry the guy seams to have a few loose screws himself.

Do it and call the company you bougth the maschine from, he is a bad ad. Hope things work out in a good an inexpensive way on your side.
Think he would be rather cheeky to charge me for the machine if he has messed it up.
Don't you know that all mechanics always end up with a couple of parts left over? LOL, sorry for the joke, couldn't resist.
I really feel for you, I can't believe that he would do all that without knowing what he was doing! I am sure those screws being missing from the machine would cause trouble somewhere along the line. You can come to my house and stitch while you wait. Hope he figures it out quickly!
Debra
Thankyou for the invitation and believe me IF you wern't so far away I would be on your doorstep. Think I could buy another machine for the price of the Air fare.
I do feel very sorry for you. This all sounds a bit 'fishy' to me. How can a guy who is supposed to be experienced not know where a couple of screws go. Perhaps he has got a couple missing himself!!! I really hope this gets sorted out for you very soon.
I get so jealous when I see the projects you people are doing and I can do NOTHING.
i do feel sympathy for you. What kind of a place would not know where to finish putting it together! I hope you can find someone with more knowledge next time.
I am going to make a few phone calls and go searching today. Hopefully I will find someone.
I wonder why he thinks that you should know where they go? I get my machines serviced by echidna, they are a Brother dealer so they know what they are doing. Gary the owner was telling me recently that there is a shortage of sewing machine repairers in Australia because they can only get an apprentiship in Sydney, or somewhere in NSW so not many people are doing the apprenticeship. Did you try this number from the Brother Australia website 02 9887 4344
Alice I sent them a Fax last night asking if they can put me onto someone here in Adelaide or even SA somewhere.
Sounds like he really values your custom. What a idiot to ring you up and tell you that. Think I would contact where I bought the machine and ask who else was available and tell them why. Brother Australia should have a contact address. I took my friends machine to be looked at yesterday, it is a 2plus hour journey each way but we know our machines are well looked after there and the service is great. There are reapair manuals for the machines so he aught to be able to look up and find where the missing screws are from. Good Luck and keep us posted on the problem.
Funny I did take my Manual with the machine. I really thought this guy was going to be good as he is an older European and does repairs from all over SA.
You should let your dealer know the amount of ineptitude they have recommended to you. Their referral reflects badly on their business as well! Perhaps they will make it right for you, since it was them, after all, that sent you to him in the first place. What a bum thing to have happen. So sorry!!!
Dear Lyn, I do feel sorry for you. It's always horrible when something is undone and when you put it back together you have extra things! I do hope he can sort it all out for you. Love Chris
