Oh, I am feeling your pain and frustration!!! I hope that you get you find the perfect person to do all of your repairs, now and in the future!! Does the shop where you bought your machine not provide any sort of service? I was warned by my machine repair guy prior to my embroidery machine purchase to be sure to buy an extended warranty and cleaning contract with the company, since it is so incredibly expensive and difficult to get the machines fixed. I'm glad I did. I approached the cost of a new machine in the first 8 months of owning my new machine. I talked to the owner of the local chain of shops, and he said that he would be replacing my machine on Wednesday because I have a defective one. I cannot imagine how I could continue to afford paying that. Here is is $250 USD drop fee, plus any parts and labor for repairs or cleaning. Ouch!!
I contacted the place where I bought my machine ages ago and asked who could look at my machine. They suggested the first guy. My machine is over 5 years old so extended warranty wouldn't have helped.
My sis-in-law took her machine [not an embr] to someone from the Adelaide hills area. He apparently used to work at All Make on Goodwood Rd. and now works with Melanns at Dernancourt. Can find out his number, but may take a while or you could just ring Melanns with an enquiry.
Possibly the one in the Hills is the same guy who messed up mine. Knows nothing about Brother or Embroidery machines. All Makes would be at least 7 - 10 days just to look at it.
I will be finding out his name as my sil wants me to use him!! NOT if he is your guy!!
Lyn, I do hope you have some luck in finding someone to fix you baby....or replace if it is under warranty. Hugs Sally
Evidently from all the answers.... you have a Brother!
Well, good luck getting some help from them.
Some of you might recall my problems with my 780D? At one point I called the Brother number on their website..... GOT ABSOLUTELY NO HELP AT ALL.
My machine is fixed I THINK...... and he ended up not charging me... So sorry mi30kaja..... I know how you feel!

I have had the same (NON)response from BROTHER. Sent them an e-mail to ask them to suggest someone who could fix my machine. That was over a week ago and no response.
I had about the same thing happen to me.Ibought a janome 9000-new- and had it just over a year and it just quit on me. Mdh thought it might be a fuse so I took it back (over 100 miles each way and the dealer said he thought it was a fuse too. To make it short he kept the machine 3 months so i finally went back to get it and he told me I just had a hunk of junk and it couldn't be repaired. The good thing was my son took it apart and now it runs just fine and no the dealer didn't charge me either!!
Would like to buy another machine but being by myself my finances don't stretch that far.
Glad you have your machine back. If he'd have had the nerve to ask for payment I'd have asked him "Oh, nowadays we have to pay to have a machine messed up - I was under the impression we paid to have it fixed!" or "Wow - how can I get into the repair business - if you can make money to mess up a machine, I think I'd do fantastic at it!"
Seriously, glad you have it back and now can see about finding someone to actually fix it.
Have you emailed the Brother company about this? I really think they need to know what has been going on. I am sure they would like to make it right for you.
I e-mailed them over a week ago and have not heard anything yet. --- Hopeless!
Pleased that you have "your baby" back but not pleased that it has not been fixed. I agree with the other Cuties - it should go back to where you bought it from and perhaps they can advise you. Hope you are back to sewing soon. Sarah.
Not sure where I bought it from would even know where to take it. It is Spotlight in Australia, something like Jo-Annes, Walmart.
Is brother not able to give you a list of shops with a real mechanic? Is it possible to bring it back to your seller? If a shop here has no own mechanic or repairservice they send them back to the general office for doing the repair/service. Most shops here offer a parcel-service (free if you have warranty on your machine).
Greetings, Bettina
Possibly they could if only they would answer my e-mails. Too expensive to ring them.
Get Google Voice IF it is available there. Free or very low priced phone calls!!
Lyn I am delighted that you have your machine back. The but is that you still have to find someone reputable to deal with it. If it were me I would get back to where I got the machine from and see what help I could get from them. Good Luck, keep us posted and thinking of you.
I contacted a guy last evening and I will take it to him later today. Fingers crossed. Have put the tension back on 3 as it should be.
I'd also be checking with Brother and see what they can do for you. Good luck with it all Lyn. Love and blessings Chris
Lyn - I've been thinking about you. Did you manage to get onto Brother Australia at all? Did you manage to contact that place at Aberfoyle Park?
How miserable can it be to have a beautiful machine sitting sick and idle while you tear your hair out trying to find someone to fix it.
If it's still under warranty the dealer who sold the machine to you should be the ones to seek out a good mechanic - either that or give you a new machine and deal with the broken one themselves. DHDon says the second option is the correct way to go.
I wish we lived nearer so that he could stand up for you.
Please let me know if and when you do get some good news.
AlmaG.
Alma, I am taking it to the Guy from SewAll later today. He works so would only do it at night or weekends. Contacted another place at Ascot Park and they don't do Brother or would not even suggest anyone.
Oh my - I was hoping that some how it got fixed without a payment. Where will your turn next for repairs?
Shirlene, Hopefully the guy that I am taking it to tonight will get it working for me again. If he does you will hear from me at your place. I have an order for 4 coasters for next Market. I have 3 made with a lot of problem of breaking thread, so if I don't get the machine fixed I will just give the Lady the 3 no charge, as they are not perfect and then tell her the problems I have had.
