Has anyone out there done the fringed flowers? If you have done this, I would like to know how it is done before I goof up another piece of good cloth. Is there a tutorial out there for it?

I have done several fringed designs and they turned out great. Once you try it and figure out the technique, then you will just fine with doing it. I think it is kind of fun. I like snipping the bobbin threads rather than cutting the top threads. It gives the fringe a loopy look, which can be trimmed. I made a carrot as my first try, and my son in law thought that was so fun that he wanted a carrot on his PJ pants. :)

Fringe is as easy to do as falling off a log. You'll be able to tell on the back of the design which threads you clip then kind of pull up the threads you've just released on the front. You'll enjoy this type of design. Hugs Karen

Here is the tutorial for the fringed flowers on Cute. If you look in the blue words to the left of your screen, and click on "tutorial" you will find this as well as different tutorials I've written for how to do some of the things on the site, like post pictures, etc. Hugs, Marji

I have done fringed designs from emblibrary.com with great success. They are specially digitized designs for fringing. Basically you sew out the design and then cut along the back of the "fringed" part - down the middle of the satin stitch (so you cut the bobbin thread only if you want it to be loopy fringe or you can cut further out (into the top thread area) if you want a cut fringe). I have washed and dried a couple of times and the fringe fluffs back up pretty easily. Good Luck.

I have done fringe flowers but I used a special disc with instructions, you can't just cut a normal embroidery. Also I was disappointed as they went flat on washing and wearing.
