My red dongle that came with my 3D Professional software had gone bad. The outside slips off of the circuit board, and it seems to be damaged. I have double checked the drivers. Please help.

Usually, as long as you have the broken dongle, the company will replace it for a small price. You have to turn in the broken one, though. Your dealer should be able to do this for you. If you LOSE the dongle, you are really up a creek, because you will pay for whole new software package. This is information from my Janome dealer for my software, but I would think Viking would work the same way. Best of luck, hugs, Marji

I used to keep my dongle in the pc usb slot until someone mentioned a usb hub (I didn't know what that was but managed to find out without anyone knowing I was clueless.). I have since gotton one and put the dongle and other things in it and now just have to unplug that.
You have some good suggestions - so try those first and then talk to your dealer and see what they suggest. Good luck!

I would for sure check with your dealer or Viking. In the future be sure to follow the advice about putting your dongle in a small usb hub. I put mine in one and never take it out. I use the other slots for flash drives and download all of my designs onto one of them. Good luck getting a new one. If you do have to upgrade, if you can possibally wait tell your dealer you aren not getting new software until it goes on sale and has a big trade in--it is surprising how quickly they will have a sale!

on one lot I ordered a new one, they will do so if you hand in the old one. You will have to pay just for a new dongle.
I have now still 3D and as all they come easy apart. I find that you can just slip it back on and it works fine than. To not have to take it out all the time I have now got a small unit, with 4 slots for dongle etc. So I only take that out and do not touch the dongle. So just try to put it together first. good luck

Did you already asked the software company if they can help you ? They should 'cos afterall you did buy the software original else you would not have the dongle !

you can try 'carefully' pinching it closed slightly with a pair of pliers. Sometimes it's just time and use and they tend to get loose. If not from what I understand you're SOL. It's time to upgrade to 4D or 5D good luck....
