Day two of heartburn...any suggestions, cures, or ideas? I haven't had a case this bad before and I can't figure out what caused it this time!

Please go to a Doctor as soon as possible. I think that you may have an ulcer and that can be very dangerous and life threatening. Do not want to scare you but this is the truth. You may start to lose blood from it if it erodes into a blood vessel (there are many large ones around there) or it can erode right through the wall of your stomach - both of these scenarios are life threatening. GO TO A DOCTOR PLEASE ! Hearburn does not last for two days.

My mom is a Nurse and I finally told her what was going on. TUrns out I (stomach) doesn't like sweet peppers anymore. Someone put them on my sandwich. NO MORE.

So Glad that it was a simple solution. I was a Nursing Sister in a big Casualty for quite a while and we saw a lot of ulcers in the middle of the night that had to be rushed to theatre. Guess I always think of the worst scenario first !

I agree that you get yourself checked out. Better to find out it's nothing......

Please go to a doctor and make sure that it is not heart related. Hope you will feel better soon.

I have acid reflux and get heartburn easily. I take acidophilus tablets. Buy in the vitamin/herb isle at the pharmacy. Very inexpensive and works and don't need a perscription. I was taking Nexium and the insurance company said they were not covering it anymore that's when I tried it. It won't work instantly but works after a day or so of taking it. Start with the lowest dosage and take it everyday. Even if you don't have the problem since it regulates the natural cultures in your stomach that aid in digestion.

Will do. It definitely is helping. My mom thinks it's my gall bladder. Wow, haven't had a major health issue for quite a while so I guess I'm due. Already have had 7 surgeries before the age of 30 so not keen on that. I'll wait and see. Thanks

wow-weird-just as I was reading your post, a commercial came on TV for Zantac-for heartburn relief. No helpful suggestions for you-I don't get it that often and when I do, I just ride it out. I did get a bit of info though sometime ago-after having a "service check"-I was informed that I have 3 gall stones-SAY WHAT???? Anyway-the gal told me that these little buggers can cause a bunch of symptoms-heartburn being one of them. Oh the woh's of getting "old" lol ~linda~

Thanks Linda. The gallbladder thing came to mind also. I hope not yet. My husband just found a job and started last week, no insurance still for 90 days.

Gaviscon tablets (chewable). I find I can't eat creamy meals as they seem to affect me, so I stear away from them. I don't know what you ate, so can't offer any other suggestions. I hope you get some relief soon. Love and blessings Chris

It can get bad. No heart problems?? I have heard you can chew gum to help. I've tried it and it does work for me. It generates saliva and those natural juices seem to help. Can't hurt.

Will give that a try. Only thing, I have TMJ and am not supposed to chew gum. I've been good, so once won't hurt!?
