Welcome to the world you have worked for until now! You have earned this time...so, love it, love it, love it! When you wish you were back at the school, just think of May-2011 & everything you wanted to leave behind as fast as you could when June arrived...and then you will see the day you have before you now and you will love it, love it, love it!! Congrats and Good Luck!!
Twee congratulations!, I retired from nursing at 70 but it was a have to r/t hubbys health since he could not be left alone at home any more. I'm still nursing but no longer getting pay for it. LOL I do miss it because I'm basically a person who has always had to live on a time schedule to get everything done. I function much better that way I find. My sewing & embroidering & quilting keep me on a normal path. Also keeping the 2 Greats again 2 days a week. You will find plenty to keep you busy & perhaps a volunteer day here & there will be good for you./Lillian
I too am pretty structured. The latest I've been able to sleep in is 7:30. I do like routines that way I can get more done here at home.
I retired for teaching May 2010! I love it! I miss the children and my teacher friends but not all the regulations and such. We have a farm and traveling petting zoo and I sew and keep the grand children. I am really too busy to work. lol
I'm baby sitting a lot too. Haven't been able to do that a lot before. I love my projects, and yard. I'll stay plenty busy
Retired from teaching 4 years ago and love it! My husband retired 5 months before I did. It has been working out. You each just need your own hobbies and interest so you have some "me time". We do tend to car poole for shopping trips and trips to town to save gas money. I always take a book along so I can read during those stops that I would rather not make.
It is good we both have hobbies. I saw some of my former students tonight at soccer. It did my heart good.
Congratulations, I retired 3 years ago, and I miss working with children I am elementary school teacher, I do not miss the administration side of our jobs, parents thinking they know more than the teachers, principal giving you extra work with very little time to do it , checking papers during weekends, etc. I was very happy my DH and I had the oportunity to be together almost 24 hours a day, for 3 years, the Lord took him 3 months ago and I think I have too much free time in my hands, too lonely now. I am sure you will survive.
My heart goes out to you for your loss. I miss the children, but have grand children close by that are filling the gap.
NEW AVATAR! Yeh!
I've only been retired since January and I absolutely LOVE it. Trevor is still teaching part-time as a TAFE teacher (Techincal and Further Education) and he loves it.
I also love keeping my home clean and tidy and have only just come into the sewing room after cleaning out my fridge and pantry this morning. I'm just about to go have a bike ride. I have one of those indoor bikes. I only have to do 30 minutes a day!
I have the sewing machine going doing some lace napkin rings and all is well.
Picking up Mum from the free concert at our local Belmont 16footers club at 12.30 so I might have lunch with her there. It's a glorious day about 19C today.
Love Chris
I'm cleaning like I haven't done in years. It'll be a while before I'm caught up, but it seems so nice. Going through old files today and throwing out tons.
It takes a while to get used to, but soon you find you are busier than ever.
We did this 2 years ago. I am taking care of my mom and he has gotten a part time job. But, we still have more time together. Definitely a change. You will find the reason you got married in the first place, thats a good thing.
Hi twee - retirement is a huge adjustment. I settled to it like a duck to water but my DH battled for 3 years. It is now about 8/9 years and we love it. My DH plays tennis three times a week and golf twice a week - this keeps him out of my hair!!! My advice to you both is to keep busy. Women find this much easier than men do. LOL. Good luck and enjoy. Sarah.
I have plenty to entertain me, embroidery, art, gardening, etc. He has joined a photography club, which will help keep him busy.
Terri, dear - you changed your avatar. I know that this has to be hard on you - missing the things that you have grown to love - but in the meantime - you will have more time for visiting me - I hope - Hehehe! I think the two of you will survive, too.
Twee good luck and enjoy your retirement
