http://www.annthegran.com/FreeDes...
Sorry for you. I hope you can recover them. This show to all of us that we must backup often our designs
:( O U C H. I keep promising to back mines up...I will take this as a warning ;)
If the designs are still on your flash drive they can be recovered. I lost everything on my hard drive last year and my whiz kid nephew put me onto a program that retrieves lost files. It is R-Studio and it recovered everything for me. Takes a bit of learning but well worth it. When you plug the flash into your computer the computer reads it as just another drive and so will r-studio. You can then ask it to recover all files to a specific destination and presto! there they are. Hope this helps :-)
Thank you . I have just spoke to another shop and he said he has programs that may find all
oh, Sandra, I am sooooooooooooo sorry. I wish I could help you! Try the suggestions of Silver. I have had the same results that she suggested, so maybe all is not lost.;)
Oh, Sandra, I'm so sorry!! We need to back up these designs in a couple of places, gals!! CD's are cheap, just burn a copy or two, then check to make sure your copy is ok! If you're worried about waiting to 'organize' the designs onto the CD, forget it!!! Just make the copy, then if you lose things off the computer, believe me it will be a pleasure to hunt for the designs and reorganize them back onto your hard drive. Now, didn't Ruthie preach about this very thing just the other day? Oooh, bad ol' Marji, saying 'I told you so', hee hee hee. But we spend so much on these designs sometimes, when you add it up over the years, what's a few cents for a CD to back them up on? Sandra, I'm SOOOOOO sorry you had to learn this the hard way, believe me, I have tears in my eyes for what you've lost!! Marji
Thank you for your support .Lucky I had just finish the car embroidery i am doing for my grandson's quilt
you've got lots of advices already and sympathy here, so I just add a flower for you
So sorry to hear this. I have an external backup that I use once a month and I use a memory stick to save just the designs.

We hear so many different inputs .Just Finding the wright person who knows the world for the C.P.
Sandra, so sorry to hear of your troubles, I was just thinking the other week that I needed to do a back up and still havn't dont it, I had all the disc's out ready and have only done the ones that I have bought. I was thinking of getting a machine that had the memory stick and thought it would be so great, but now You have tought me that it might not be so great as it is another thing I would have to back up on and how easy it is to loose everything. How did this happen? was there a problem with the stick and then it wiped them off the stick?. I thought that the memory stick would just be a copy of all your designs on it and that you had the main lot on the computer and backed up on disc. You are so well organised with your fabric's and sewing room, I can't beleiive this has happened to you. I am very sorry that it has. Sandra H. Queensland Australia.
I had them only on the flash drive ( through I would be saving space on the C.P. ? how it happen . Spoke to another person who said they can become over heated .It happen to him and as he has the programs to work with got it all back So he know has my memory flash .So Sandra do not relie on them also use cd's or dvd's
I'm not that good with cp but have an external drive that I back up everything on . I had back up preached over & over to me. Had no dealings with flashdrive. So sorry U lost your designs, that would b devastating. U can join, get 6mon. & download everything u got here again **4U
My commiserations. I hope they can still be salvaged. I just burned a CD yesterday, first time in 2 1/2 months. Now I am reminded again how important making back ups really is.
It did remind all to durn So may be this is why it happen To remind us !!! ha ha . Having many seniors days !!!
Sorry to hear this. I think we have all learnt a lesson here - to backup regularly! *4U
Oh Sandra, my comiserations to you. Best go & backup myself I think. :( :)At least you have your flowers
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR INPUT . I will show it to ones who know the computer laungage
I am very sorry to hear you have lost your designs.
Does your embroidery machine read jump drives or just your computer? Can neither read the drive?
I would not just throw away the jump drive just yet. Try it on a few different computers. They will probably need to have the drivers installed for that brand of jump drive installed first tho... depending on what OS you have it may already be installed. If what has happened was that you lost the driver for the jump drive and not the data it is still possible to get that data off of it. I have had a computer say a drive was unreadable and then have another computer, usually one with a differant operating system (a different version of Windows or Linux), read it with no problem.
I assume your embroidery machine reads jump drives? If so then try going to a shop that sells the same brand of machine and see if their embroidery machine can read it...
I know that with computers what you least expect to go wrong usually does... Hardware is so fallible... I back everything up on a cd as well as loading things to a jump drive.
I am sorry...
Silver
I used the term 'jump drive' (that's what my machine uses) ... this varied approach applies to flash memory 'cards' as well.
I am SO SORRY!!! As the others have said, back up, back up, back up! If you don't have a membership you can ask us to vote for the designs you really liked and we can help you rebuild your collection. Of course, you might want to ask when there aren't any new designs out, too.
Sorry to hear about your loss, I have all my designs backed up on cds. You may want to do this in the future.
sandralralochran, when you transfer your designs to the memory stick, do you copy them to stick or do you send to stick? Might try coping, if you don't already do that. I am not that computer savvy, so every step comes hard for me. You younger girls had had computer science in school.
copying or sending does the same thing It leaves them on your hard drive but still puts them on your stick Cutting and pasteing takes them off your hard drive and puts them on your stick
Sandra . . . I am so sorry about your troubles . Did you have a Backup? I hope so . A flower to cheer you up. . .
No Will need to go to the site to download again Those I have brought I hope arew still in my account
