Och! That's going to be sore tomorrow. We need to band together and ask the sewing machine industry to put a finger sensor on the machines so we don't stab our fingers when they get too close. Been impaled also and had to use pliers to pull the needle out (did freeze it a bit with an ice cube before the extraction). No need to tell you to be careful think you got the point. lol
I am wincing in empathetic pain reading about your mishap...OUCH! Hope you are okay & recover quickly!
been there done there twice and the second time the needle broke in my finger rather difficult extracting it...hope it never happens again...soozie
I am just amazed that I was so quick to get my finger out before I broke the needle. Just rethreaded and away it went again, finished the serviette ring no problems. lol. hugs Helen
please go to the doctor to get a shot so the finger does not get infected. take care, and thanks for the design. Annie
The needle went clean through and bled a lot, I also swabbed with meths,so I think it will be OK. Just a touch tender today and making it difficult to type. hugs Helen
Eek; so sorry for the mishap. Sadly, it is an easy thing to occur.
Take care of your finger.
Hugs,
Jacqueline
I've come so close to doing the same thing that I'm trying my best to remember to stop the machine then do my clipping....Takes less than a minute and is so much safer.
Know exactly how you feel, only I was trying to get some jean material to feed through, so I could finish hemming a pair of pants. the need went though my thumbnail and locked there. Had to very carefully back the needle out with the wheel on the side. Never done it since and now I don't even try. take care of your finger. *4u.
Thanks to all of the horror stories-I now stop my machine to clip threads-hope you are doing OK.
I am so sorry you did that as I know how it feels...did that one time putting in a zipper only put it througn finger nail and finger ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh it hurt,Lenamae
YEEEOUCH! I've done that same thing (tried to get at a loose thread while machine is stitching)... I hope that reading your post (and wincing while I read) will help me to remember how fast these things can happen! Thank you for writing to remind us all.... and I hope you heal up quickly.
last week; didn't I asked you all "When do you cut the threads ?"...don't say "I told you so..." :-)
EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I just inhaled deeply and my dog looked at me like "what's up". Jikes the thought alone is giving me the willys. Now I will go and take a peek at what caused you so much pain.
Wow we were just talking about this. I take it this is not the first time you have clipped a thread while the machine is moving. I hope from now on you will stop at mving parts when putting you fingers in harms way!. Thanks for the FSL - everytime I see it(after I stitch it) I will remember this message. LLDS christine
A nasty thing to happen, remember my mother doing this many long years ago, she broke the needle off in her nail and then had to have the doctor pull the point out of her finger nail. As many times as it has been said "stop the machine before cutting"...we still try to do it while the machine is running....take care Helen ... x0x0x
Oh my goodness, I hope its not hurting to bad.
I winced in pain just reading this-take good care.
Thank YOu.
Oh Helen I do feel for you. Its a great design and thanks for it. Take care
Ooooch, poor you. Hope it soon feels better. Lesson to us all to be careful
Helen, this could have been a lot worse. Thank goodness you are OK. May it teach us all a lesson of how in the blink of an eye a "nasty" can happen. Sarah.
Oh how painful that must be. Thank you for the design and hope you heal fast. Ruth
Ouch!! I am so sorry to hear that!! I also tried that the other day, fortunately it hit the scissors & not my finger. Thank you for the FSL serviette & I hope you recover soon
oh dear that must have been painful!hugs are coming your way, and thank you for your work.
