Adding character is the perogative of the artist! What ever it takes - markers work great for color! I have decided I don't like to hand sew, glue works for some problems, I have been needing fuse because I forgot to put tear away under my organza. christine Live Laugh Download Stitch!
It did not like my picture so I will try again with a smaller version.
I used the sewing machine to fill my missed bit, I could not get the design to stitch properly it kept having registration errors, so I split it. I am not very good at hooping for split designs and I got it off by a millimetre or so. so I used a straight stitch backwards and forwards in the part that was missing.
Found an interesting site with different fabric-pens. The two at the bottom have two tips. Somebody here who worked with them?

I just finished a shirt for a friend and had to both hand stitch one spot and "color" a couple of places that the bobbin showed through. I bought a set of extra fine Sharpy brand permanent markers at the office supply store and it has just about any color I have needed.
For all of you that use the pencils/pens..... what brand, are the tips sharp enough to get into little spaces -- most of all -- WHAT DOES THAT DO WHEN IT IS WASHED OR CLEANED?
I actually used a sharpie laundry pen for a design the didn't sew the edging close enough to the design but it was for framing and will never be washed........
I would love top have the ones you all are talking about...... Where and what brand?
Thanks!

To print my label at the back of my lamps I have ink-pads with textilcolor (>Versa Craft) Now they have also pencils in the same colors to correct an imprint; will try them ;o)

I've done a little bit of hand stitching to fix a blooper, but I have a large collection of colored Sharpie markers. I just pick the color that is closest and add my own fake stitches. So far, no one has even noticed. In fact, I told my son that I had to "repair" one design, and he had to look long and hard to find where the threads ended and the marker began. It sure beats starting over again!
I've done that. Sometimes designs have a satin stitch that thins out in one or two places - they just need a few stitches of help by hand.
My first design had a 1/4" gaps (must have moved the hoop) and I darned it with the darning stitch and finished the satin door posts with a wide satin stitch on the sewing machine. Then I had to sew extra flowers to cover the garden gap. If you know the design you'll also know that the door should have a heart cutout, and you can just see the width of the gap in darker colour just above the bottom door hinge.
I guess I jumped in where angels fear to tread but it was a lot of fun and a very steep learning curve. Now it's framed it looks fine..... :}
Here's the result.......
Yup, me too only the other day had to do the finishing touches on some dragonflies, my daughter was amazed that I knew how to sew by hand....LOL!
Depends on the size of the error. I either do it by hand or with my sewing machine. Always worked it out.
Oh yes, I have also had to hand stitch somethings.
There are a few of the ITH designs with the frame/satin stitch around that does not have tie offs at the end of the colours, I have amended them afterwards in my software. So that if I do them again it will not happen.
I do try and check before hand, in my software now before doing any new designs.
Hugs Yvonne
I cut some of the threads to short and after first wash some of the embroidery pulls out. Use needle and thread and work every block with the hand. It was on a quilt that I made. Marie
Yes I have I even use fabric pens to fill in white marks in the deigns too. Suzanne
I do a couple stitches whenever it is necessary to cover an empty spot.
Yes I have to do that some times with my Janome cause she often don't get together the filled part and the outline no matter if that are freebies or good designs from emblibrary :o(
The first attempt of a Winnie Pooh (from turquoise) I gave up to stitch it with hand cause there were so many holes. The next I filled the small space between black outline and brown with a black Prym permanent marker and just stitched the breast.
The cow from emblibrary is always the same: The hooves don't meet the body ( and I cut the color off from the rest in embird and put it nearer!). So frustrating cause it looks so nice and customer loves it for the little boys...
Greetings, Bettina
I am going to have to do it soon. I am making African mask placemats for my DIL and I can see on the slow re-draw that there are missing bits. Very frustrating cos I am not fond of hand work!!!!
Oh yes; another way to 'fix' designs is the use the permanent markers that are made in a variety of colors and fill in with them.
Hugs,
Jacqueline
I still pick up a needle and thread but only if I have too and not very often.
