I love 505. It does not gum up your needles or machine . It lets you lift up the masterial and reposition it several times. I love it! Suzanne
not to take away from your question Monica-I haven't used it either-I just wanted to comment on the way you start with date posted-great idea,I love it-mind if I copy from now on? ~linda~
I have used Dritz (from Joanns with coupons or sales) and Sulky KK2000 and I prefer the Dritz - it seems to be more "sticky". I use spray a bunch - I dont hoop anything but the stabilizer and when I am not using a sticky stabilizer (which I do for towels, clothing, etc.) I use spray. I generally spray the item in an old box top rather than spraying the stabilizer in the hoop - keeps the hoop clean (but if I do need to spray in the hoop I clean them by soaking in warm water and Dawn dish soap).
PS: I also baste items with basting stitches to be sure they are really in place well.
I only use spray adhesive, rarely hooping my material. I hoop tearaway stabilizer then a tiny bit of spray. I use Madeira, as it is the only decent one we can get here in SA. Once I had used the spray adhesive I was so pleased with the result I have never looked back. Hope this helps. Sarah.
I would rather use the basting stitches that a cutie has given us on this site. I held onto these for so long then I decided to try them and will never go back...just love them.
Please tell me which basting stitches you use as I have tried but the stitches are so small that it takes an age to remove them. Sarah
Please direct us to the basting stitches, I would love to try this too! Thanks
Look today 9/20/11 under Freebies Tab. Go

sample designs. There are 2 sets. Too bad
I can't use. I have a set of basting stitches and just started using and have had good results. I wanted the smaller set,
but wrong format. Good luck. Maureen
My advice would be only use it if you really need to and make sure it is purpose made for machine embroidery 505 temporary adhesive spray is the one I use and my embroidery machine supplier says he would not use any other adhesive.
Alice.
I have tried this one, and it works, I find it pricy at $15.00 here in Canada, we have few options north of the border...
Loosie... $15? Where? I paid nearly twice that at FabricLand.
I've been working on a quilt lately, and I'm using galaxy twill. I discovered that if I sprayed the stabilizer and then smoothed the twill down over it, I got less puckering.
Yes I have used it with much success. I have some cut-away that I purchased from a commercial sewer/embroidery lady and the stabilizer is a bit too thick for my domestic hoops. So I use the spray [505 Spray and Fix temporary adhesive] Hoop your stabilizer, cover the edges of your hoop with some paper or scraps of fabric, so that the spray doesn't get all over the hoop. Don't seem to need lots, then just stick your fabric on. Give it a go. Good luck
