I do a lot of geneology. I also take pictures for Find a Grave. Charla
I've never checked, but lately I have been wondering as there are relatives in Norway that I know nothing about. The Aunt on my dad's side was the one who had a lot of info, but she passed away a few yrs. ago and I have no idea what happened to her things.
This post of yours has got me to thinking - and the replies of others for what they have done - that maybe I should try to see what I can find. A big thank you.
Interesting. My grandmother did lots of research many years ago before it became popular and now we wish we had more records. She had a lot of it in her head and some we got written down. She actually had people writing her from all over the country. Her mother was a Randolph from Virginia and had traced her family back to Pocahontas and John Roth.
Teri, Thank you for mentioning findagrave.com. I went and put out a request for a Grandparents grave and found 2 others I did not know existed. Grandfathers 1st wife and his brother who died at 3 weeks. I went back 6 generations and the funny thing is everyone is buried in the same cemetary. Thanks again!

My husband is into this. He has found some things from his side of the family. He found out that his grandfather on his dad's side was given up during the civil war - his family could not care for him. So that is about as far back for that side he could find. But, my mother's side - we have 15 generations. Now we need to check out my daddy's side more.
Good luck on the hunt for family. There are so many resources to help now. It is great.
I have been doing family research for about 15 years or more. Thoroughly enjoy finding out about family history. I have a website on ancestry.com

My dad and I used to do a lot of genealogy when he was still alive. It was a special thing that we researched together. We managed to find someone online who was a distant relative and had the actual copy of the journal kept by a many-great-grandfather who stowed away on a ship from Ireland to the USA and started a new life as an American. He kept notes throughout, and took care to keep them for his descendents. I think that genealogy is so incredibly interesting. Have you ever imagined what it would be like to LIVE back then? I would love to be able to open a window in to the past to have a look at how people lived, but have to rely on reading and then my imagination.
I too find it fascinating. I love the pictures and histories. It brings the people alive for me.
Teri, that is so wonderful - you might have to share some of those photo's you found. I love old pictures and love doing work on the family history, too. I have my family 10 generations back on each side - I wished I knew more about how to get it farther back. I don't have photo's that I can share with you - as I am still without my PC. ;(
So sorry your computer isn't up and working yet. A couple of my lines hit royalty and then I can go back to the 500s, pretty amazing.
Have done both my mom and dad's families back into the 1800's. Did a Family Tree in embroidery for my sister and decided to do one for me, now I am working on two for my children for Christmas. There is a picture in projects not sure if you can find it, a lot of work but came out just great. Used Veronika's Family Tree designs...
The designs I used are from Amazing Embroidery (another of Veronika's sites) you will find the designs on Pg 78-79-80 under Embroidery Designs...
I have my family back to 1495 in france...Hugs Sally
The interesting Epitaphs section was great. Thanks for that.
