I haven't used prewound bobbins, but my machine tells me when it is low and I can set it to show lower or a little higher or not.
You must have the same machine I do!!Mine knots up on the bottom and them brieaks on the top so I have finally just given in an change out when I see it only has a little left.
No I dont have problems but I am amazed that Brother have designed and sell a top of the range machine that doesnot tell you that the bobbin is about to run out. My Galaxie 3000 (Brother too) tells me when the bobbin is close to running out. My PR uses the thread to the last inch or mm. As I have not had this machine long I have not got used to this on it as I am so used to getting a message on my other machine. I have noted with my Galaxie that when the bobbin is coming to the end of its life that it does not sew as well as the bobbin wobbles in the machine
I do, and the machine keeps telling me you are out of thread, but i still buy them i love them and i heat winding it.
I've been throwing them away... but saving them now to make tassels for my lace Christmas ornament bulb covers!

Never had a problem with my pre wound bobbins. Can't imagine what is causing your problem. I get mine from Metro and my brother uses the L bobbins. Great price and always have had speedy delivery. wish I could help. This is where I get mine. http://metroemb.com/index.html
I was told if you have this problem to throw the bobbin away. Don't try to use the end damaris
Thanks for all the answers. I see that I am not the only one that has this problem. I will check out some of the brands mentioned.
I've been using the same brand since I've had the machine. I just think some of the bobbins are bad, not wound right or something. When I start to hear it spin I change it .... and some go longer than others.

Mine can usually get closer to the end than a few yards but I sometimes have that issue (or it thinks it is out but it is not). Even if I don't use the end of the bobbin I still LOVE prewounds - way more thread on them and no time spent to wind. I also use the empties for FSL colors, etc. I use the ones from MetroEmb.com
I have only just started to use pre-wound and I am loving them. The first one must have been a dud as the cardboard top came off, leaving me with a whole bobbin I cannot use, actually too scared to use.
Check the bobbin size with the original bobbing from your machine not all the pre-wound bobbins are the same size. A small difference are going to make this happen. viking only takes NEB pre-wound bobbins.Hopes this help.
yep all my sewing machines love a new bobbin [ are they male? or are they female? haha!! ]
i don't buy prewound bobbins but on my husqvara this happens if i don't wind it right to start with. So i watch and try to catch it near the end before something goes snap .carolyn
I have been using magna bobbins. They have a small magnet in the center of the bobbin. It gives the bobbin have a bit of tension to it does not spin out when you get to the end. You do not have any problems and use all the thread,no waste! Hope this helps Suzanne
yes.. that happens alot to me, I am aware of it and I keep those bits on the bobbin and use them in my other regular sewing machine and that way I am not waisting thread.. works out fine for me.. I have some bobbins that embroider better than others.. I use A size in my brother 4000d and the quattro.. and the prewound that I get from Allstitch work the best for these machines for me...
