I have the Brother 3000 which is the same more or less minus the Disney designs. Its a brilliant machine but cannot comment on the cost as I am in the UK. Whatever machine you buy you do need to have a dealer close(ish) for servicing who customers are happy with. I have since bought a second Brother machine

You cannot beat a Brother machine for reliability and user friendly. I have recently purchased a multi needle machine, but I still have my old faithful single needle Brother PC8500D, that has stitched beautifully for several years (even without regular maintenance, except my being careful in using and keeping it clean) and has given me minimal problems that were not the User's (MY) fault! Good luck on your purchase!

Not sure about that model, but I am a brother girl. I have a janome that I am not happy with and 2 brothers that I love. To be fair the janome is a very old single needle machine, and my brothers are multi needles, but I find them very reliable.
