Great work, a flock of 'wols' (owls) AND 'thank you' as I have been looking for this pattern for ages and ages. I need to look no more. Your owls are so bright and jolly
Cute! Are they the size of a cell phone - and could a belt go through the loop? Great idea?
MJDG
They are at their narrowest width 3 1/2 inches wide and from the bottom of the zipper 5 1/4 inches long finished. The loop you can make any size. I am going to attach a keychain metal ring to the loop to attach to a book bag, belt loop, etc. It's large enough to hold my cell phone, debit card, money, driver's license and even a small comb. :-)
I love your flock of owls, Ramona! Each one is adorable! I too, have been leery of doing a project involving a zipper, but these have inspired me to give it a try! Great job and I'm sure the grandkids are going to love them! And I'd love that many grandkids to sew for! Only have one so far and daughter keeps saying "one and done." But, I'm not, hee hee hee Hugs and *'s, Deb
Give them a try! Zipper is no problem. The design stitches a line that you lay your zipper on. I used a little piece of masking tape to hold it in place in the hoop. Need the tape as fabric gets placed above the zipper before any stitches are done.
Ramona, you sure have this technique down good - what lovely owls - I hope Reen sees this or you submitt a picture to her site. Great work dear - whooooooo knows whooooooo is getting one - this year?
I didn't see how to upload a picture to her site. If you know how, please let me know. Thank you Shirlene!
a lovely group of purses. the colours are beautiful. nice work.
These turned out great, you have been busy. Hugs Yvonne
Sooooooooooo cute!!! I'll bet everyone will want one!! lol
I bought this pattern and have been afraid to try it because of the zipper. I have never done an in the hoop project. I keep seeing it and love the colors you chose.
Machine sews right over the zipper. Good instructions. You just place the zipper where none of the metal will hit the needle. Can't believe how easy it sew through the zipper. Thank you and give it a try!
Have this pattern somewhere but haven't gotten around to making it.
These are adorable. I like them all and would have a hard time choosing just one. Now which one did you make for yourself?
I usually go with teal, which is the one in the middle on the bottom row. Color just didn't come through clear but I did an orange one for me. However, I'm considering doing another one in the teal for myself.
These are so cute. Great job.---How hard were they?
Not hard. Cut all the fabric and batting first and orgainized the zippers and ribbon. They take a little time, especially the first one. The end results are well worth it.
Ramona they look great. Are they difficult? I'm always afraid of the zippers...
Greetings, Bettina
I was afraid of them too for my embroidery machine but with the right design my goodness they are easy as pie and you can get them online at etsy and
other places at a very good price.
Go for it.
Hugs
Linda
No, not at all! Just have to have a pair of yucky sissors that you can cut through the zipper to trim fabric when all is done. They were fun!
Also, ansalu, use a couple of pieces of masking tape to hold the zipper in place. It really helps.
