FAO those of you who have access to a Lidl supermarket.

Every few weeks, our Lidl has "sewing sets". They are plastic boxes containing various threads etc. One of the variations has 32 reels of thread each with a matching prewound bobbin. They are very cheap! It is ordinary sewing thread, but I have used it successfully of FSL test stitches (including the pumpkin I've just uploaded in projects.) It is great to be able to pick up a reel of thread with a matching bobbin for small sewing jobs as well.

I bought something like this ages ago and I use it for test out's that I then file. I have re-wound the bobbins onto ones for my machine by slipping the bought one on to a thin pencil and then used my fingers as extra tension. Perfect!

Fantastic idea Sue, but unfortunately the Husqvarne machines that I have need their own bobbins in it.
Bet it is real good value knowing Lidl

What a wonderful idea - something else to put on my shopping list for overseas next year. Thanks Sue.

That is what I need for sewing - but I would use up one of those spools on FSL in a second - Hehehe! I like the container.

Yes, I have some of these. I bought them in a little shop in Bournville. You know where Cadburys make the chocolate. Do you use the bobbins in your sewing machine and if so what make of machine do you have?. G

Mine is Janome. They are opaque plastic bobbins and work perfectly.

My set has metal bobbins which I don't think it would be a good idea to put in my machine. G

I took a look at their web site and they have reasonable prices. Looks similar to a grocery store here in the U.S. called "Aldi" and will look to see if they carry similar sewing items. Really like the neat container the threads come in.
