Try going to your local auto supply store. Most of the ones in my area carry the giant bags of the hemmed white terry towels. Get a package of those, and be sure to wash them ahead of time. They are perfect for kitchen towels. I use them at home and have for years. Good luck with your hunt. I hope you find something that is absolutely perfect for your needs that doesn't break the bank!!
There are 2 very good sites that have links on my 'Embroidery Websites' listing. Both sites on on the 4th row of ads. They are 'All About Blanks' and 'Embroider This'. I have purchased from both of them myself and both have good service.

still looking.
They also have some wonderful free designs that are good for kitchen towels.;)
try this place
You may want to order from Walmart ??
I will keep looking. DeVon
I don't know where you are, or what your local dollar stores are like, but the dollar stores here in the Niagara region have some pretty good kitchen towels. I've got some here that I've had for more than a couple of years and they've been through some rough wear and tear... and, they're in great shape... better than a couple of expensive towels I've bought since then. I used the dollar store towels to test some embroidery on... the embroidered parts are great scrubbers. You just have to get past the idea that you're going to be putting more money into the embroidery than what the towel cost.
You can purchase huck toweling at JoAnn Fabric. You can hem it and use it plain or sew a strip of print material on one end that would compliment your design or a solid color that matches the kitchen. If you really want to make a LOT... you can buy 50yds for $100 on their web site.... :)
Since Wal-Mart are handling yard goods again, I would check there for the huck toweling.

Great idea, I looked them up and found some at 3-5 dollars a yard online, Thanks.
Least expensive will be Wal-mart. Bought some from Ebay, they were nice but too expensive.
You might want to PM katydid here at Cute. She has done some of the prettiest towels I have ever seen. I know she has several sources for her towels/linens that she sales. Some of her designs have been posted here on projects and they are beautiful.
I found some nice ones in my Wal-Mart $3.00 for a 2 pack. Very nice to embroidery on as well.
I saw some in a store that sales only kitchen things but they were costly:):)carolyn
I buy most of my kitchen towels at Walmart. Best price I found. Bath Towels I buy at Kmart.
Not sure where you live but I buy mine at Walmart. They have some nice waffle type that I love to use. Sew out nice.
