This will be my first Halloween with an embroidery machine. Ive found lots of patterns for "bag toppers". Has anyone used these patterns to make bags to pass out on Halloween? Does this sound like a good idea, or is it one of those personal party type designs but not for people we don't know? Just wondering what the general consensus is here. I remember making popcorn balls and picking apples for the trick-or-treaters, but that was in a different era. Very sad. Those days were good!

We get way too many trick-or-treaters to do that. Perhaps for a special party or class.

pretty good advice from everyone, I made those for Valentine's day-but only for my granddaughters,- and I am sure they just got tossed after taking out the candy.!!!

Why not make up some treat bags for the postman/woman, garbage collector, UPS person, people that do some kind of service for you without ever expecting something? Take them on a doctor appointment or give one to the lady who checks your groceries.
It will make their day and they will treasure the work you put into it.

Too much work and it will not be appreciated, buy printed bags at the dollar store if you want to put your treat in a bag.

As for me, 2 years ago I made Trick or Treat bags for all 15 greatGrans, only to find out later that my many hours of work were used that year and tossed out. I was devastated. At that time I only had a 4x4 hoop and one emb machine, and made each letter in their names as 1 hooping, used all sorts of haloween fonts, & like I said took hr upon hr to do. Needless to say, that won't happen again. Hugs to you, Judy

Lovely idea, but not very practical... especially if you get a lot of trick-or-treaters. Do some designs on sweatshirts for the family members that are going to be answering the door. There's all kinds of ideas for that... witches, BOO spelled out in one of the Halloween fonts, bats, skulls, etc. If you know you're going to get a few very special treaters, make something just for them.
My 2 cents worth.

You will use an awfully lot of thread, stablizer, etc. to give out very many. I think I would save that project for special friends and family.

In our neighborhood most would just pitch the bag to get to the candy inside and none of them would appreciate the work that goes into it.

Just my opinion and experience.

I guess I hadn't thought about it that way. Good point. Thank you.

Too much work involved to randomly give out to many, many trick or treaters, who will not be aware
of such a "treat"!! I will create t-shirts, bags, etc., embroidered for my own SPECIAL "Treaters", friends, or to sell, but not in mass to give away. I have a generous heart, and am most charitable, but do not have the time, nor energy, to undertake what you are suggesting. A great idea on a small scale, but not for a large number.
I, too, have such wonderful memories of Halloween, and am saddened that too many pranksters and evil minds spoil it for the children of this generation! True, a totally different era!!

In a small community you could make them, usually you add your name and addy to the bag and only give the the families you know. But in a large community, where you can get up to 200+ kids I wouldn't it wouldn't work, and parents probably would toss out your hard work. If you have children in school or grandkids I would have the child take them to school for there class mates. I live in a small community now, and the kids love getting treats at school anytime of the year!

I hope this helps.

I cannot imagine giving treats to so many kids. Maybe I'll just get some candy and call it good. I appreciate the feedback. Thank you.
