I'm having a terrible time trying to decide which size bobbin to buy from Metro.

I went on live chat with Brother.... and they told me I cannot use prewound bobbins in a 780D .... Rubbish! That's all I've ever used... but bought them from the dealer and I they are not marked with a size.

The PDF chart on Metro says size L but I'm not sure.

Lots of SE270D takes an A. The 780D takes the same size according to the manual. Older Ellageos-ESGmodels, took the L, the newer ones take an A. Confusing? Don't know why they have to make so many sizes.

Was supposed to start by saying--Lots of mistakes on that chart. Then, the 270...

L or A will work but you need the "top hat" bobbin pin to use the shorter ones. I use the shorter ones with the bobbin pin - the plastic sided ones - with no problem at all in my 780 and 6000.

Thank you. That does clarify it a little more for me. I don't have a bobbin pin so I will order the A as soon as I can get some info on how to use my Discover card with them.
Their cust service says they take Discover but only Visa and Mastercard comes up at checkout..... I have emailed them twice about it and have not heard anything yet.

Well, I went to brother-usa, and looked at the manual for your 780D. It said it takes a 7/16 bobbin. I was pretty sure what one, but I went to the SE270D manual (which I have) and it also takes a 7/16 bobbin, which is an A. That is what my Ellegante takes. I got the box of A bobbins from Metroemb and they work great. Surely cannot beat the price of them!
I had used prewounds in my Ellageo (size 15) so am used to them. The great thing is that the Ellegante comes with an adaptor so that I can still use them.

Thanks for taking the time to do that. From the picture it looks like the L size is smaller than my machine so I will try to order the A size.
I suppose I'll order the small amount to be sure.
Thanks again.

Of course what Brother said is rubbish. I use the prewound bobbins from Metro and have no problem with my Baby Lock Elegante and my Brother HE 120. I would believe what Metro says. There business depends on it being correct. I didn't know either and went by their chart.

The chart says L.... but I think the ones I use are thicker than that.

I recently ordered bobbins from Metro.for my Brother ULT, size L. The plastic sided ones. They work in Brother, my Bernina Bernette, and even my Pfaff 1475. I LOVE them!!
