I found a fleece remnant and thought of doing my first applique, I'm assuming I'll need WWS on top and a heavy stabilizer on the bottom. I recently bought some Hydro-stick stabilizer and still haven't tested it out, the other day I was watching Martha's Sewing Room and they had a sticky stabilizer that has a paper back, that is cut to expose the sticky stabilizer.

Has anyone used these two products and what is your experience with them? And where did you get the paper back stabilizer if I decide to try it out? Off to take the kids to school.

Have a glorious day, the sun is shinning and hope it stays for awhile so I can hang up my laundry when I get back... Hugs!

I've had great success appliqueing by just using the wss and medium weight stabilizer. Even when using fleece. My experience with the sticky stabilizer wasn't a good one. It really gummed up the needle. It could be because of the brand of stabilizer I was using, however. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Enjoy the sunshine! It's showers for us all day! Hugs and *'s, Deb

Fleece stretchs so I usually use a polymesh cut away stabilizer. I'm not sure if you are using the fleece as the applique on another fabric or doing the applique on the fleece. I would not use hydro-stick on fleece because it may damage the fleece when, it needs to be removed. I pin my fleece in the hoop and use polymesh cut away. If it's a simple applique, I do a double sided applique. I'm off to work and won't have time to explain what that is, if you don't know. Basically you have a piece of fabric on the bottom and use the same thread in the bobbin as the top and what you do to the top, you do to the bottom.

oh that sounds neat, I never thought of that, I'm putting fabric on top of the fleece, I thought of using the happy faced flowers from adorable applique, I'm glad I didn't use the sticky stabilizer thanks for the tip! Lucy
