When uploading a freebie, what do I have to put into the field "original artwork"?

Thanks & Greetings,

If I can just add to Martine's information.....
copyright laws prohibit digitisers from using any artwork that they do not have permission (from the artist) to use.

There is a lot of Freeware or Shareware available to use.
There is also artwork given freely from places such as Clipartopolis and Clipartoon, but you still need to read their Licensing terms & conditions and abide by them.

If you purchase artwork, be sure to read the artist's Licensing terms beforehand, as some of them want royalties (paid to them), by people who use their artwork, and some even expect royalties to be paid by anyone who uses the resulting embroidery designs.

Then of course there is "Licensed" artwork that, if you digitise it, you could find yourself in Court if you are caught out.

Things such as Disney, (and many other movie and cartoon Characters), Sports, Company and any Logo you haven't obtained permission to use. Photographs, of anything, not taken by you are also included in the prohibited list unless you have permission.

This area of embroidery is a real minefield and we all have to tread very carefully and do our own research or pay the price if we get caught.

The name of the one who made the drawing or clipart or took the picture, or the site you got it from. If you are that person give your name.
You are not meant to fill in the name of the digitiser, as you are only allowed to upload something you digitised yourself that would be superfluous anyway.
