Once you have your blocks laid out, stand back and "squint" your eyes. You should then see if you have a concentration of dark or light etc. in one place. Then you can shift the blocks around and try again. Yours looks fine to me.
I think it looks great, but I would add a 1" strip of black between the blocks - you'll be amazed what that little strip will do. If it's an inch then after your 1/4 inch seams it'll only be 1/2 inch wide......
I tried a strip between. It gave it a funky disconnected look. Usually it is just the opposite....
Well i think it is a great way to use scrapes love it carolyn
I love that you used scraps... that makes be love it more.
I love your crazy quilt as it is. It is unique to you, and only you can make this once, because each one hereafter will be different. I appreciate you sharing this with us. Please show the finished product, I would love to see it. Enjoy your creativity.****
Come on the louder the better I love all the colours of the quilt squares and the beautiful embroidery squares love the quilt i would not change a thing. Keep it up -Brenda
I wouldn't change a thing! I love it! The embroidered blocks give your eye a "place to rest", whereas, sashes would tend to draw your attention away from the blocks. I'd love to see this quilt in person! I agree with Annie - a child could spend hours "lost" in your quilt. Hugs and *'s for all, Deb
Thank you so much. I will post some decent pictures when it gets finished. I remember studying my grandmas quilts for hours....very fond memories...
whoever your giving it to will bb really lucky, i see love all over it..mm
I'm no expert, but I like it the way it is. Good luck and remember to show us the finished quilt.
You might try picking a common color and stripping it in between the blocks. Maybe blue, pink, or red? Lay a piece of fabric under the blocks without cutting it yet to see the effect.
Thank you. I tried with the sashiing and it looked abnormal. That is why I was thinking either everything or only half. Thank you for your suggestion.
The great thing about a quilt...you can do it your way. Very colorful...have fun with it. H&*
I really like this also, and I agree with everyone else, it is wonderful the way it is....what a cheerful bit of eye candy! I think sashing would break it up too much, I love it just the way it is!
I like it just the way it is! I made one of these with embroidery on some of the blocks. I had an idea to use the pockets for little ones to put things in. I have also seen the pockets on them with a ribbon attached with items on the ends for kids learning quilts. Janet
I agree with majority! It looks great just like this!
It's your design and I'd keep it like you have it. My grandmother made quilts for years out of scraps from her old dresses or whatever she had. she never cut them into squares when she made one called her CRAZY quilt she just grabbed a scrap and sewed it on whatever the shape was. I only wish I had one of them to remember her by. You never know how much a family member would love having this one. I say leave it and it may well be treasured by a family member one of these days. Just my opinion.. *4U
My grandma hand pieced many quilts, and then hand quilted them. Growing up, I got to hear all of the stories of where the fabrics came from. Thank you for your input!
All the blocks work with each other like they were meant to be in the configuration you have them in.
I stitched them with that combination in mind, so I suppose they were. :) Thank you.
I wouldn't split this up, leave it as is for the visual interest is so unique and pleasing to the eye. Great job!!
It all depends what is your goal! I like it the way it is now, but it would look nice if you add solid bright color strip?..... It is you art work and as an artist this is your inspiration not ours, I love your quilt!!!!
Love crazy quilts! I think it looks great. The crazier, the better :)
Nice work
Hugs Lee
I love it just as it is!! So colorful and unique! Reminds me of my mother's handmade quilts of many years ago. She passed on in 1985, and I treasure her quilts still today!

Quilts are special. They are made with love, so I can see why you have such strong feelings about her quilts. Thank you!!
I like it just the way it is. Everytime you look at it you will find something new. It looks wonderful. And I love the fact you used up so many items others considered 'useable'. *4U Becky
To me this is an expression of your art. And I like it. Leave it as is.
Do you realise just how visualy stimulating
this wonderfully bright quilt actualy is? For a child or a person who has suffered a stroke this is just so imaginative. Yes you could seperate the blocks.Yes you could sash them together and make two quilts. The embroidered blocks could be used for a child as they are so tactile and even a person with poor eyesight can feel a design shape once its embroidered. Just think of the many bed time stories that can be conjured around the embroidered blocks a new bedtime story every night.
Those bright coloured blocks would bring sunshine into the life of someone who is bed bound be it for a long or short time.
Take another look at what you have created. and then choose, Because no matter the decision taken you have put love into these blocks work of art and it will be enjoyed for many years to come.

Thank you very much for your insight. I really got over-zealous with the sewing and realized that I have enough for several quilts. They will all probably be given away, with more to follow.
First - looks good to me!!!Positive feedback !!! but I like the Nr 2 better
if you have time to test layout try to but 2 more pink ones tothe V row and try to build one row with the green ones, and the red ones, + one violet and so on - pull the colours together in rows and check if you like, make foto again and sew together what ever you like. It is so hard to find the "best" layout because there are so many possiblilities. Just have fun 8-)
Thank you for your thoughts. I don't think I have enough color combinations to do the gradated colors, but like that idea.
Looks great to me; it's interesting!
Hugs,
Jacqueline
I think it's great. It will make people stop and really look at it. If you like it go for it. I don't always put sashes .
Mmmm.... looks fine to me. Sort of like an all-over I-spy quilt. My betting is that this mix looks much better in reality than in the picture and it would be very difficult to resist the 'touch-test'.

You are right!! I asked my guys here, and every one of them had to touch it.
Are you going to separate the squares with self-coloured strips which would calm it a little and let you appreciate the squares better?
I thought about adding sashing, but decided to either keep it really wild and colorful, or go with just decorative blocks of one style only instead of two.
Thid id one way of getting rid of all the scrap pieces, I would do the same. It would never to busy for me. Love Marie
I like to have at least one crazy and chaotic piece and this is perfect. There does not have to be any rhyme or reason, and the balance of color is fine! Keep it mixed up! christine Live Laugh Download Stitch!
