Gorgeous! I was wondering how these designs stitched out. Thanks for showing them! Great job! Hugs and *'s, Deb
Wowww!!! che meraviglia!!! bravissima!
dove posso trovare lo schema?
These are beautiful! But I was wondering if the designs could be stitched out on organza? Would that help with the wss problem?
These angels are beautiful. There is a stabilizer that Madeira make called 'cut & iron away Super film'. It is a WSS (???) that instead of washing out you just iron it and the film disappears. No need to use water. Hugs Marg
I have some iron away - I have yet to try it on fill designs. The cotton should handle it fine. It is topping weight so I would have to use multiple layers which could slip. I experienced slippage - not fun! I'll consider and if you do let me know! Thank
I love here angels and really like the nativity ones.
If they are cotton, you could soak them over nite in tepid water. Steam press and I don't believe they
would shrink much because over time those itty bits in the fsl are going to fall out and make a mess.
Just my humble opinion. I wash Vilene (wss but not the plastic kind) and leave some in and then steam press using a towel. I work as I go.

Thank you, I will try your method as I am willing to try anything. Do you use a press cloth - you have to protect your iron right? and the tepid vs warm will prevent shrinkage! yeah! I hope you solved my dilema! do you add fabric softerner?
No I didnt add fabric softner. Your leaving a wee bit in the cotton thread but you don't see it but it stiffens nicely for those you want to stand upright. But if I was doing say lace cotton border I would want it all out and
maybe even a little softner. I use a press
cloth towel-it protects and speeds up the
process too. Shirlene is the expert but I've done this with poly stuff too.
With poly angels I did same process with press towel and a wee bit left in. Its different when you dissolve in water rather than just leaving as is-better in my humble opinion- you don't see it just
sorta experiment with one and see how you
like it as far as stiffness. I use a large
amount of water overnite in stainless steel pot I have dedicated to crafts if I want it all out- just rinsing is not eoungh. If I want it stiff maybe a couple
of hours -jeepers I never time it- Just sort look and feel and when it looks clean
I take it out. Hope my ramble helps a bit.
less water
oops cut me off.
If doing cotton lace for clothes I would want it all out and maybe a wee softner might be nice.
The more water and time the more stuff
comes out. I use a large amount of water
overnite when I want super clean pieces.
For the angels ya want a bit left in so maybe a couple of hours would be okay. Just test one and figure out how you like it. If you put 5-10 angels with little water it won't work as well. Sorta like the more water and the more dilution and cleaner end product. Just depends how you
want them to be.
Shirlene said in previous posts you get a
feel for it and its true. In no time you
will know what you like and need
Hope my ramblings helped.
Oh just see shirlene down there- I haven't
used the fabric softner for speed but hey
worth a try and Shirlene makes a gazillion
so she would know best.
Still I think soaking is easier than cleaning each hole with a Qtip-I think all
my hair would fall out of exasperation.
LOL
I guess that is why I haven't done it yet! I have spend hours experimenting and my cotton shrinks! I'm gonna try again tonight. tepid water - that's the ticket! Thank you! and the wool should felt nicely!
They both stitched out nice for you and some people will not wash out all the stabilizer so they still retain shape. We need to ask some cuties that over time does the ornaments get brittle if the stabilizer is left in?
These are very lovely - using the q-Tip will work really well - I have heard that if you use a small amount of fabric softener in your water - that will work as an agent to help get the stablizer out fast, too.
Thank you. I heard that tip also. do you think it ok to leave most wss in the piece never wetted?
I like rinsing my WSS out - I like it soft - but some of these need the extra - just one as a sample to see if it shrinks - as that seems to be what you are worried about the most.
