You could use an FSL circle or may be even a star shape, but that depends on whether they are 'real' snowflakes with 6 arms or have another 7 or 8. Here's an example.
Those look great and last night I searched through looking at this possibility and size of my different fsl designs and now that I have seen yours they are great this way. Thank you for the pictures. They are great.
Capoodle, the ones I did I sewed on felt, and cut around with pinking shears. Mine are NOT FSL, and I have seen none yet that are FSL. I think they would be nice is FSL, but you would have to have a circle or something behind the snowflake to hold it together. Hugs, Judy
After all the requests I've read I though this would be a great idea to make one for each family member. The thickness of felt may be to much for mailing. Thinking something else for the cards and those that we will be seeing can get the ornaments delivered by hand. Thank you.
What about sewing them out on felt, then trimming in a circle with ,say pinking shears. You could poke a small hole with a bigger hand needle and then thread a fine fishing line through, so it can be hung on the tree as an ornament. I just stitched some FSL angels, then wondered what to do with them.I thought they could be put in your Bible(or book), hung from rear veiw mirror (or tree) SO.O.O. I poked my small hole in the top and inserted my line. What D-O-E-S Shirleen do with all those beautiful angels she makes??_Toogie
Thanks for the options. Some cards would get five ornaments so felt might be too thick. May rethink of something else to put in the cards.
They are not FSL, I stitched out some on felt and stitched a hem across the top and hung them with a wood dowel rod and ribbon. I recommend clipping the threads between lines, they are a bit harder to get to after they are done.
I was wanting to put them in greeting cards so they can hang them on their trees and was hoping they were FSL. Thank you.
My guess would be that, unless it says that it's freestanding lace (FSL), you'd need to sew it onto fabric of some kind, just like any other design. They'd be good in the corner of a placemat or on a coaster, for example. Anything that's basically linework would sink into the pile if there was one, so a fairly flat fabric would be a better option. If you used felt, you could always use a topper (water soluble stabiliser), for a better result.
Great question, I had tried putting them on a plush throw and it got lost in it. I thought about putting them on fabric and sew it on, not sure how that would look. DeVon
